This is a special game
Hello, I'm a long time Eve player (almost 20 yrs)
I've been searching for other games like Eve ever since the beginning, without success as there is literally nothing else like Eve.
I play almost every online space game you can think of just trying to chase that dragon, among other online fantasy and science fiction games and MMOs.
I probably did stumble across this game in the past, but I may have dismissed it due to the graphics or the way the ships handle, or the fact that it was on mobile might have scared me off. In the past I've been guilty of dismissing any game that isn't exactly like Eve, because it was always THE greatest game ever to me.
But today I found this game and to my surprise this game is technically OLDER than Eve, running since 2002! :mindblown:
The fact that the game has been running this long, and is STILL being updated and attracting new players, puts it in a very unique category of games.
There are VERY few games out there like Vendetta.
Playing this game today made me feel like I was a kid in 2006 again. The music, the art style. Sure it looks kind of old but man it feels good to play, and it's really well designed. The tutorial was great. The UI and everything works well, it seems like it has a really good handle on physics and ship combat.
There are people chatting in the world chat, which is really nice to see.
First let me say I fully plan to keep playing this game, I plan to subscribe/support it as much as I can and endorse it as much as I can. If anything I regret not discovering it sooner.
Mad props and respect to the people who made this game.
Also I aspire to some day make a game of my own. It's a far off dream and I don't as of yet have a clue how to do programming or game design, but I have faith that some day, some how I'm going to learn how and figure out how to do it myself.
I don't have any delusions that I could make a game as good as this, but it is definitely an inspiration.
Anyway just wanted to say hi and give some encouragement to the players and developers here.
This might be the most underrated game I've ever come across.
Thank you.

That's very kind of you to post, and I'm grateful and happy to hear you're enjoying the game :).
This game's journey has obviously been very lengthy, but we're still investing a tremendous amount of effort into it, and I strongly believe our galaxy's best days are yet to come.
We have an older visual aesthetic right now, although that will likely be evolving before long, probably beginning with the menus and UI. There are some more visually complex locations in far-flung regions of space, as we test bits and pieces of concepts, but still nothing very "modern" yet. The fact that we support standalone VR devices (like Quest) also makes the "framerate scalability issue" even more complex than PC.
We also do experiment with battle scale extremes that benefit from simpler assets, since we keep everything real-time.
Much of the game's actual technology is pretty frequently updated and not necessarily "old" at all. But, in maintaining a live-ops MMORPG, our focus tends to be on keep things stable (the game being a "service" that must always work), and that means being pretty cautious when tinkering with player-facing content. When things do eventually start to visually change, it'll probably happen pretty fast.
Updating a game like this can be a little like trying to re-design a jetliner.. while in flight :). But, we do still do major ground-up rewrites; most recently with the game launcher (last month), with the new code currently being in limited production testing on a single device family right now.
I have posted a development direction sticky on the Suggestions forum, that gives some general ideas of what we're focusing on, which tends to be more like: Administrative tools, server-side improvements, user experience, player communication and engagement, Events and content-tools. I mention work on our Vulkan renderer in there, but that's still not about visual changes: it's about stabilizing the updated renderer architecture so we know exactly what performance targets we can hit on varied hardware, when we are ready to start updating assets and drastically changing the universe. GPU architecture continues to evolve, after all.
Anyway, happy to hear it's well received and inspiring to you. Welcome to Vendetta Online :).

Welcome to the VOID!
Thanks a lot for replying, that's really appreciated. It's good to know the game is alive and well.
I am planning to start uploading videos again soon, and Vendetta is going to be one of my prime showcases.
Hopefully I can make some decent content and inspire others to come play this awesome game. Anyway, see you in game. o7
