genkernels broken?

News to me... seems to have worked just fine.
In fact it was great. run genkernel, select my modules and compiled in features, save and exit, and it did the rest of it, moving and renaming and all for me... seems like a nice shortcut. :) System's running great now, just waiting for "emerge kde" which I realize is going to take forever...

Is this a server bug, or just a dev having fun?

Icarus, if you log off or change sectors, your data is written out to the database. So, if you want to make sure your score is saved, take a moment to jump to another sector and back again.

genkernel works okay on 2.4, although some of the options it selects don't work, and in some cases it causes major bugs and total breakage. So if you try to start your framebuffer and get a kernel panic instead, well, you know who to blame. And it doesn't work properly at all on 2.6.


Incarnate: How come it's not saved when you dock? That would be a logical time IMHO, but it mustn't be, since I lost some stuff when the server crashed right after I undocked...

haha. I'm not sure how that happened. I don't have any particular news on the server right now, other than that it will periodically crash as before, and I have a rough idea of what's going on, but it isn't fixed yet.

The kills are from him killing the itani going after him.

Have you completely ignored all the posts that have said they're working on it? Jeez, be patient. It's going to take some time for them to iron out all the bugs.

Huh, it's been up for almost six hours now. So far so good. Good thing, too, cause I'm just about at my wits end. One minor uninitalized data read (which I failed to fix 100% like three times before realizing my error) seems to have lead to some major heap corruption. Yay for valgrind.

WEll, other than some minor lag and jumpiness, it's acting pretty good for me.

Am I the only person who finds it very worrying that a1k0n's computer is lying to him? I mean, come on....

doh, it lasted seven hours before crashing. grumble.

first time here and cannot login.
i needed to post this to see exactly what is the time difference between me and the forum.
now the questions:
- is it possible that the server is not functioning and still the "active players" list is populated?
- i get "connection timed out". could it be a name-resolution problem ?
- where can i find the ip address of the server ?
- is there a way to check if the server is active on a specific port ?

please throw some help here.
