Wow...that's really good. I would imagine that this would be good for marketing. I also enjoyed the segment featuring the cool rock with a tunnel through it. Seriously though, great job. :-)

Edit:
forgot to say, but that's REALLY good flying as well...

Errr... How long is it? Could you compress it a bit for those of us with less than 1 Mbit access? :P
Feb 26, 2004 roguelazer link
:o. Getting almost 300 kilobytes per second. That's almost 2400 kilobits per second for those of you who think in modem terms. Upload speeds that high are in the dual-T1 range.

I've made a very short one, but it's not really released, (it sucks) my next project will be to make a nice one for S1, to be released "soon" (whenever I feel like making it)

Go to version tracker and search for mplayer, it should be one of those that will play it.

OH MY GOD!! The textures. . . the rglow . . . the. . . the beauty of it all!!
Great vids.
I just have one question. The movements seem a bit jerky. Is that a result of your computer running such high graphics, the compression, the recording software, or my computer?

I've always imagined a Serco theme to be heavy on the brass and percussion though. Something like a military march, some Wagner or Vivaldi maybe. The NT soundtrack was spot-on though.
I also have a bit of a complaint. The panning around and hanging on the image of the flag seemed to take a bit longer than necessary. At first I thought maybe it was just to sync with the music, but the last moments had no music, so it just got kind of boring.

But I'm just a critic. Great work. Can't wait for the Itani one.

Magus: yes:p

No, actually it's mostly my joystick wearing out.

magus, not wagner. i wouldn't want to be associated with an antisemitic composer.
vivaldi composed very pleasant music, not at all militaristic. in fact, all those composers who composed marches and such were either conservative (right wing) or downright fascists.
if any composer at all, maybe Prokofiev, Dvorak or Tchaikovsky. And russian male choirs (Red October, anyone?).

I fail to see how the political alignment of the composer affects the salience of his/her art. I would go into a long philosophical rant about the nature of art, but I don't think anyone here wants to bother reading that, so I'll put down the short version. Art, regardless of what its message is, still manages to communicate a fundamental truth about our human nature. (if you barbarous Serco can even be called human ;-p )

And Vivaldi did compose pleasant music, but despite being focused on remaining organic and natural, some of his pieces ("Verano" comes to mind) embody the fervor and energy that I expect a Serco theme to have, while, at the same time not being as oppressively militaristic as Wagner's would have been. I suppose it just depends on what exactly the image you want to project of the Serco would be. Imperious militarists who revel in battle and prosecute war brutally and ferociously, fighting for the sake of glory (Wagner.)
Or single-minded men who fight with passion, fervor, and absolute devotion to their orders who fight because it is their duty to fight. (Vivaldi)

Maybe the devs can give us some deeper insight as to the characters of our various nations soon.

Aaah... could you please compress them, Ben? Quicktime, 150x150 pixels or the like would be great.
cheers, @rchie.

HURRAY! Finally I've successfully downloaded the vids

:) awesome flying, wish I could do that. (my vid captures still look like home video)

I'm going to shoot to have them all in three formats.

1: Compressed DivX, as they are now
2: Quicktime, 320x240 or so
3: Windows Media Video, 600x400 <--yes, I know this sucks, but it makes for small files...
