VendettaWeb Hacked?

Mar 21, 2004 Archon link
Greetings.

About two hours ago (13:00 GMT), the entire VendettaWeb Network Database was erased, including logs, configurations and the very databases holding the required information for VendettaWeb to function correctly themselves. We believe the reason of this sudden System Breakdown was a hacker attack, as the VendettaWeb logs were been erased with the database (they would not have been if the reason of the breakdown was "simply" a MySQL Failure). If this is so, the hacker had most probably insider (community) knowledge, as he/she chose the moment for his/her attack when the VendettaWeb System was the most vurnerable to an attack. That is, during the migration process from Network v0.8 to v0.9 (which were inititated Saturday, 16 GMT).

The VendettaWeb Administration (currently only me, as Asphyxia is seemingly away) would _greatly_ appriciate any information that may help us in finding the source of this breakdown.

Thank you, Archon_MkIV, VendettaWeb Site Main Administrator.

Ah, and since he isn't supposed to be running a server at his workplace for personal use, he has nobody to go to and nobody will help him. Not to sound like too much of an ass, but tough beans. Keep weekly backups. However, losing stuff sucks, and if you don't have backups I'd be glad to assist you getting the site back up any way I can.

Mmm.. luckily, we have backups of both the site and the webboard, but we didn't have no backups of the Database.

After much hard work, we have again brought VendettaWeb back online, though the hackers has brought us back-in-time (a 5 days old backup was used).

http://www.vendettaweb.net/, that is.
