It was fun while it lasted, but yeah. It wasn't fun after that. Sorry to those who missed their chance to endlessly shoot avalons at the station, randomly killing people who are docking or launching.

I removed l-mines from 13 for the same reason.

"I removed l-mines from 13 for the same reason."

I didn't notice that, thx :D

btw how long did the battle rage on?
i only fought for 2 hours
Apr 26, 2004 RelayeR link
I fired my last load of Avalons at the 13 station around midnight EST and there was still fighting going on. That's 8 hours for me and much more for others!

Great time Devs! Thanks for all the wonderful experiences in 3.3.20-22. We look forward to the update!

Meh, there will still be space quakin' around, though in a much...tamer form it seems
Apr 26, 2004 Starfisher link
As far as I know, the combat model won't be changed.. just the ease of getting high performance fighters and weapons. So it'll still be SpaceQuake, just with a real long respawn time...

Always a quesitoner of things:

Well since Avalons are apparently still is s9, is there any reason we should beleive they might be left AFTER the reset?

Last night I got an estimated 40 PKs using "removed" Avalons...Avalons were available on s5, s3, and s1 docks...s5 made it EXTREMELY easy to bring the new variant of rag "Apocalypse Ragnorok" to bear on s13, popping 8 shells at the station then returning and rearmign.

VERY FUN though a1k0n and Incarnate...thanks for the fun, not to even mention the great time in s9 we had with the rings...(until someone turned the sector into wall to wall l-mines...then it became rather interesting!:P)

hehe rags are useful now arent they?
Apr 26, 2004 Pyroman_Ace link
Very, they are the latest Apoc weapons system. Capable of doing considerable damage to men and machine...

Although as NTL put it "BLACK STOP! WE'RE TRADING" as I bombarded the s13 with Nuclear-class weaponry...he seemed to think I was against trade...no...just against all the Vulture's flying in and out of there.

Remember when they still had a masive proxy radius? A capping party would be on their through s12 and a Prom would fly into the centre of the formation... pop, no more capping party.

/me had a dream of a valk ramming him with nukes

/me slaps himself...

its never gonna happen... well not until another version maybe... maybe 3.5???

/me thinks a bus with a nuke would be a killer weapon
Apr 27, 2004 Pyroman_Ace link
Spectre, have you ever heard of the MAD Theory?

Back in the Cold War MAD or Mutually Assured Destruction was the known fact that if every nuclear weapon the US and the USSR had were fired, the human race would go extinct.

Same idea with a nuclear bus. Eventually, every combat pilot and trader (eg the whole universe) would be reduced to only Nuclear Busses, lacking the money to buy heavier craft.
Apr 27, 2004 ctishman link
Well, that's not quite right. MAD refers not to destruction of the human race, but instead to the mutually assured destruction of both primary parties (USA and USSR). If MAD were carried out, only the Neuts would survive.

Would be a hell of a fireshow tough. Hmm.. wait; wouldn't we die from the nuclear winter and large quantities of radiation?
