I'm not in game anymore these days but are kills only pkills now? Cause people gave loads of deaths, no score, and like no kills...

There was just a score reset.
Apr 28, 2004 a1k0n link
...and score has become almost completely meaningless, so it should probably be removed.

then how can you estimate from now on how good your oponent is? do /charinfo on him? it's a bugger to read and understand in a fight...

Good question. Score could just be how many hours that player had to hang around their home sector shooting cheap bots

Sweet!! Die, score. I do hope it gets taken off. By the looks of the new "charinfo" menu, it looks like what's going to matter more is your standing with different factions and nations. I can't wait to see that actually work.

anyways the only way to get score is to kill other players

-Picture this. A guy walks into a bar who you've never seen before. Is there a score bar above his head to indicate whether or not he could kick your ass?

Would you go after this guy with twin phased blasters? ...

Game, Magus. Some indication of experience is necessary, however inaccurate.

If a guy walks into a bar, it would be pretty easy to tell from his physique, clothing, etc whether or not he could kick your ass. And you could probably tell from his body language if he was GOING to kick your ass.

Space ships don't have body language.

.. but then they are manuevered differently if the pilot is hostile (ie. sneaking up on you, turboing right at you).

... but Vlad... Spider-Man was a geek/nerd in high school and he could kick your ass hands down... unless you were SuperMan... who was also a geekish reporter i might add. so yeah... that characterization is purely for those who are what they seem to be.

-io

that has nothing to do with real life... but this game is finally taking on the real life persona so... yeah... its not quite there yet...

Besides, living the life of a trader has to have SOME excitement! Frustration isn't always a good thing, rarely is actually, but still. Some will spice up the game for soon-to-be only-traders such as myself! If people are truely afraid of losing their precious cargo of 6 Earthly Summers holo discs, then they can build up a good commerce level, and get a bus with a f-c, and/or a centaur outfitted with prox mines. Many. It's a game with real people on the other end, you're bound to lose at some point! Learn to deal with it!

except if your Icarus... or Phoenix...

i have to say that an overall status should be created: it would be based on what nations really like/love the player and what nations dont. for instance Steve says he is loved by his nation, and has a 39% dislike from NT, so that would be 1 addition to his player status, and 1 subtraction to his player status.

the player with the most nations likes/loves is the highest ranking player. a neutral status would also need to be added in... the only problem i can find is that 1 some players dont really play they just bot or trade then /givemoney to another char of theirs... and if 2 players have the same amount of nations love/like then how would they be at 2 different ranks? you could format the ranking to where players with the same amount are an equal ranking, but yeah... thats a lot of work for just a ranking board

But what about defenders IO? If a serco pirate attacks an NT trader and you, as an NT jump to defend him and kill the pirate you lose ranking with Serco and gain none from NT. But that doesn't make you a bad person. In fact, you're a better person than an NT who sites back and lets his fellow trader get killed so as not to take a faction hit.
