basically getting 10,000 new users after E3 would be bad.
True, but so would locking out curious publishers who "drop in" for a look, having seen it at the E3 booth. Perhaps offering a "publisher pass application" form visibly on the main page would make it more friendly.
I can imagine 10,000 "What is the point of this game" entries into the global chat in a row.
