Attack of the Furies
Just this evening, after the usual show of force by the three nations in Sedina B-8 finally ended, a set of 3 or 4 Hive Queens jumped into the sector, followed closely by several wings of "Valent A-3 Assault" bots. These turned out to be incarnations of the Stygian Furie. I shot one of them down, then proceeded to chase a Queen and take it out while it was concentrating on another target. I was already heavily damaged, so I figured I might as well go out in a blaze of glory.
I was blindly pumping positron bolts into the engines of the Queen, when several similar bolts streamed past me from behind, and my threat and damage warnings started screaming for attention. I turned around just in time to see 15 Furies intent on showing me how they earned their name. I tried to escape, or at least bring a few down with me, but the crossfire was too much to handle in my already damaged ship. The following is the last image my flight recorder caught before I was ejected from the collapsing hull of my ship and warped to a nearby station for medical treatment.

*The view I got just as I turned my ship around was quite a bit more frightening, but the delay on the screengrab meant that several of the furies had moved out of my view in their attempt to surround me on all sides. By the time the grab operation was finished, my ship was already an expanding cloud of vapor. The amount of red on my radar should still give you a good idea of how completely and thouroughly boned I am at that moment.

I've been hearing allot about these Furies, but most of it has been vary vague. What are they like, and will we see them any time soon? (i.e. I want to fly one!)
The Furies are alien ships which have actually been in the game before. I don't think they are intended for player use.
Hive Queens in grey space are sometimes escorted by Stygian Furies.
From my brief experience fighting them, the Furies are just beefed up assault bots that are much more evil looking. They are agile like Valent or Prosus Assault bots, and seem to be armed with severely overclocked Positron Blasters.

they are from sector 17&18 from the alpha, those sectors where scary looking, dark, creepy, and insanely hard if you didn't fly well. sector 17 is just scary, and sector 18 is hidden in 17, but in 18, you can buy all of the nation ships.

heh. furies are pretty bad, but not _that_ bad. you want bad? Helman K-27. same posi gun as the Furies, but with two of them and one AGT added for good measure. yeah, they're not as agile, but they've got a good bit more armor than an Arklan.
