I am disgusted.
You Itani are full of pride when nothing is at stake, but when you have something to protect, you simply shrug it off!
Even I, an Imami, have the pride to fight and die for my adopted nation! Even I am willing to throw myself into the path of the oncoming rockets in a last-ditch attempt to save the Sola, but you are not even willing to show up in the same sector unless it's "convenient!" I feel nothing but pride in myself for having defended it for so long, and disgust for my Itani "brothers" for ignoring my calls for help.
This is one decision that I will not regret as Dono of the House Imami.
The Imami are migrating away from here. All one thousand, seven hundred and sixty seven of us.
Unless someone can convince me otherwise, tomorrow, at 0700TMT, the entire Imami family will be leaving Itan. A dimensional instability appears to have manifested itself in Betheshee, we will pass through it, and see if we cannot start a better life for ourselves on the other side.

BLAK could use more strewed businessmen and women, you would not even have to go though the hassle of getting new nation papers.

me points to serconians lack off inhabitants and states that blak has already got a monopoly on some of the active inhabitants, so why reinforce there forces even more and distort balance :D.

Come to Sol 2, and start your life again amongst some of your long lost friends and honourbound brethren, the SERCO.

May 02, 2005 Martin.mac.au link
Wow. I didn't actually invite him to BLAK. It's amusing to see you guys consider Corvus to be so aligned with a guild.

Seriously Churin. Join Serco. They need good pilots and you are a one good pilot.

You are one of the best valk pilots i have seen recently, and how you kept the Sola alive as far as Sedina? I will never know, you will be missed.

He single handledy defended my attack, and that of other Serco. We were relentless, but not 1 other Itani came to his aid.

Churin-dono I, please do not abandon us. If you leave, then who is to educate us in the Path of Kanchi? As Amano-dono I said, "Kanchi is the ultimate goal of all intelligences, whether they know it or not." ( see http://imami.tejat.net:8080/kanchi.html ). When will we master the Art of Sensing the Outer Path? Who will supply the valuable ores of Kinxi for mega-computing, Traluminium for laboratory experiments, and Izekite for armor, that the Itani have been depending on ever since Imami Alloys developed them after arriving at Planet Itan and founding the city of New Kyoto in A.D. 4390 ( see http://imami.tejat.net:8080/history.html )?

I have merely reached the stage of Awareness along the Path of Kanchi. Still remain the stages of Understanding and of Acceptance. If you abandon us now, then who will teach me?

Although the Imami had founded New Kyoto on Planet Itan 43 years ago, in A.D. 4390, it was only four years ago, in A.D. 4429, that a dono, Kanzaki-dono I, was selected from among the Imami ( see http://imami.tejat.net:8080/history.html ). For millenia before, ever since Michiko-dono I had passed away in circa A.D. 2665, after the massive Serco onslaught of A.D. 2661, the Imami had wandered without a dono. The Imami have only recently been able to settle down and concentrate on the modern style of the Path of Kanchi.

If all one thousand, seven hundred and sixty seven of the Imami relocate beyond the dimensional instability in Betheshee, the current remainder of the populations of the cities of New Kyoto and Jallik Garden will forever remain blind to the Path of Kanchi. They will never master the Art of Sensing the Outer Path.

Before you leave, remember the spirit of Uzumaki-dono III, who disappeared mysteriously in the middle of a large Imami celebration at precisely 12:00 AM GMT, on the day of the new year on the old Earth calender, in A.D. 2600. It was his spirit that warned Michiko-dono I to evacuate the Imami to neutral domes to save them from the impending Serco onslaught of A.D. 2661.

His spirit continues to watch over the Imami. He assisted the evacuation then because of imminent danger, but this is not a situation of impending danger. It is a situation of gross negligence and irresponsibility of the Itani nation toward their capital ship, but it can still be corrected. Would not Uzumake-dono III's spirit favor giving the Itani nation one last chance?

Churin-dono I, please allow the Itani nation a chance to prove its worth before forever abandoning us from the Path of Kanchi. There are many who remain, especially in the cities of New Kyoto and Jallik Garden, who may yet awaken to the Path. Please reconsider and give them a chance. Please do not abandon us.

If you stay, I shall put aside my personal issues with the recent refusal of the IDV Sola to open its docking bay in an emergency after I had fought for it in an Itani NFZ and lost my faction standing, and agree to fight by your side as well. The Itani nation needs an enlightened one to guide us.

If the Itani you refer to are the same ones I have attempted to reason with, he will have little luck. Many a time, I have tried to make peace with the Itani, only to be shot at for my "sin" of having been born Serco.

Your goverment spreads propaganda constantly. Do you honestly think we are bloodthirsty savages? We have fine arts, we have culture! Even your "objective" history texts are filled with propaganda. Your historians are correct, we did accuse Oernon of cheating. Why? Because he did! He had concealed a small energy weapon to use during the fight. Of course, your texts would never cover that...

We are portrayed as hulking brutes, more machine than man. Have you seen a Serco in person? Yes, I do have a cybernetic implant. It's a small chip that allows me to better interface with my ship. That's it! Is that a crime? I sincerely hope not, or Itani society is even worse than I have previously seen. The mere fact that I was taken as an Itani during my few months on your homeworld last year attests to the fact that we Serco are not so different from you. I must apologize for the rant, but Itani xenophobia and misinformation is a topic that causes me great ire.
May 02, 2005 jexkerome link
Hmmm, it seems the Itani's aloofness and general lack of interest in "earthly" matters is finally coming back to haunt them.

Clear skies and good profits to you and your kin, Churin.
May 02, 2005 Shapenaji link
I've been trying to tell the itani this for years, ever since I returned from Sol II (One of the few itani in existence with cyber-implants). But they feel I've been corrupted.

The itani patriarchy is politically isolationist at best. At worst, they isolate every member of their society, placing him/her in a personal quest for enlightenment, with little to no appreciation for the advanced social structure present in either UIT or Sercan cultures.

The itani road is a selfish and complex one. They strive to gain more knowledge every day.

The serco road is a simpler one. They do not strive, but streamline their life at every turn.

The itani aim is to be above the world. The Serco aim is to become one with the world.

P.S.-It is funny, that when one is told a story which accuses one side of massive propaganda, that people accept it so readily. If such techniques could be undertaken, wouldn't you expect the same of ANY government?
May 03, 2005 Churin Imami link
Any interested in learning the Path are free to follow, but we must leave. Itani are rendered powerless by their own percieved righteousness, Serco have corrupted themselves with an all-pervading bloodlust, and the Union has no scruples when it comes to gaining money. I do not mean to generalize, as always, there are individuals within these groups who stand above; but the majority have fallen.

This probably marks my last message.
I am communicating through a buoy we left in Betheshee C-4, with the hope that my transmission will at reach that far as long as the instability lasts.
Just before reaching the Betheshee anomaly, our ship was attacked and destroyed by a pirate. However, this pirate unwittingly saved all of our lives.
All the Imami and most of our equipment successfully reached the escape craft in time. We managed to go as far as the anomaly, and successfully entered; it was then that we discovered something that would have prevented us from entering in the first place.
Immediately after entering the anomaly, all Xithricite components of our craft and equipment melted into plasma. Our craft were then buffeted by extreme turbulence in the fabric of space for what seemed like hours. Had we still been in our modified Behemoth, it would have been our ship's very hull that vaporized... even had we survived the extreme temperature increase, we would not have survived the turbulence.
What we have discovered on the other side is exactly what we were looking for. Our wormhole scouting equipment was built mainly of Xithricite, but we have discovered that our escape craft's feeble in-system jump engines have an almost infinite range in this universe. We are jumping to th

The space-weathered Itani Rune Valkyrie slowly pulled into [IA] headquarters and came to a rest on the blue steel floor of the docking bay. The docking struts flexed, the stardrive whined to a halt, and the ship groaned as if weary with the sudden increase in artificial gravity and the length of the survey trip.

With a deft flick of the hatch lever borne from repetition, LeberMac watched the canopy of the fighter pull up and back in a folding pattern that was more like origami than mechanical contrivance. He removed the helmet and pulled the mental flight assist gear from his head, swearing that this was the LAST deep survey mission for a while. He would talk to Smittens about that.

He made his way down from the cockpit and landed on the floor, glad to be in something more stable, even it it was just a larger spaceborne contraption. He glanced around the bay, saw only a few other ships, and shook the stiffness from his bones. 68 Hours in a Valk was quite enough, thank you. He tucked the helmet under one arm and strolled into the station's halls, exercising his legs more with each step.

As was his custom, his first stop was to the Deep Blue Universal Automatic Computer, the cornerstone of the Itani Alliance's information and communications systems. It was constantly manned due to recent changes in the galaxy that promised to make his life far more interesting than any survey mission. Manning the console this morning was Osmotic.

"Heya Os." he said. "What's the good word?"
"LeberMac, nice you could come back from your little vacation." Osmotic retorted. "We've had a few skirmishes here and there, nothing out of the ordinary. But wait - you'll be interested in this."
Osmotic concentrated and focused his thoughts on the day's information. The Universal AC parsed the command and brought up a timecoded message intercept thread regarding Churin Imami.
LeberMac read the thread quickly.
Osmotic shunted the messsage intercept to LeberMac's personal channel and turned back to the Universal AC. "I mean, I know he's not in the Alliance any longer, but this time I really think he's gone off the deep end - literally... LeberMac? Hey! Where'd ya go?"
Osmotic's only answer was the sharp clack of military boots sprinting down the station corridor.

The halls blurred around LeberMac and he had his flight assist gear and helmet on before he leaped into the sleek fighter's cockpit. The stunned flight crew backed off as he rushed the launch checklist and punched the turbo the millisecond the docking struts had released. Scattering fuel hoses and empty ammo drums, his Rune Valkyrie shot off into the early morning starlight of Divinia.

The trip to Betheshee C-4 went quickly. He was used to combat and racing in these Valkyries, he gave the mental commands to exceed recommended design stresses and punched the throttle. There might still be time. Crossing into Serco-controlled space at Initros, the Serco nation's strikeforces proved useless against the speed and weapons of the Valkyrie. There might still be time. LeberMac stood on the turbo until the engines whined and the internal computer took over and shut down the ship's propulsion systems to prevent the reactor from overheating. He looked around and the navigational array said his location was: Betheshee C-4. There might still be time.

There was no one there.
A tiny message buoy blinked diligently near the last remnants of some kind of subspace anomaly, fading quickly by the rate of neutrino decay present. The collector bots swarmed a safe distance away whilst LeberMac watched the anomaly fade into nothing. As it faded, his initial shock turned to indignation, and then to anger as he read the buoy's final messsage. He resignedly composed a messsage of his own and uploaded it to the message buoy, knowing that it may never reach its intended recipient.

MESSAGE ADDENDUM
****************************************************************
To my old mentor, Churin Imami:

I have arrived too late to sway your decision.

As I was born into the world of Vendetta, you took me under your wing and guided me through the immediate perils of the universe. You taught me to trade, to mine, and yes, even how to defend myself.

As I grew and became self-sustaining, you went upon your own path to Kanchi. I had missed your wisdom and advice, and took the best path that I could discern for myself and for Itan. I looked for you in star systems both familiar and strange, but the importance of my search had dwindled over the years, and I had lost hope of hearing from you.

Your sudden re-appearance had given me hope for the future, and your membership in our alliance had strengthened my resolve. At the time, I thought that the Itani might once again benefit from your wisdom and teachings. I looked forward to seeing you, and was far more active than I had previously been, hoping to perhaps just simply accompany you on trade routes and discuss the Path.

Now I see that you have left again, perhaps forever. And I see the true face of The Path. I was wrong to place such esteem in you.

Your nation NEEDS you. You have abandoned it to pursue yet another hiding place to follow your hollow Path to Kanchi in isolationist solitude. You cannot change things for the better by leaving, or turning inward.

You have hastened to judge all Itani based on your short experience with the IDV Sola. I, too, have the pride to fight well and die for the defense of my nation, and the struggle to defend our nation from Serco aggression will continue without you. It must.

I hope you find what you are looking for within your new home. I am too late to follow you, and even if I was able, I could not bring myself to abandon my Itani bretheren.

I leave you this message without hope of it reaching you. I hereby abandon The Path as you abandon us, and I shall follow my own counsel in the future.

As perhaps I should have always done.
****************************************************************

LeberMac's thoughts hardened as he mentally keyed the SEND button and coaxed his stressed engines back to life. Limping back to Divinia, he prepared himself for a shorter-than-needed sleep cycle and another tough week of Cargo defense - the Serco were back to actually TRYING again. He needed to keep his mind on the here and now, and forget about the loss of clan Imami.

May 04, 2005 Seraf Imami link
Churin, you idiot! You left me behind! What am I supposed to do now?!
I'm not the naive, pacifist girl you sent to Oretes anymore, I've matured, made friends, learned a lot. The only thing that kept me going through that whole experience was knowing that no matter what happened, I'd be able to go back to New Kyoto and be with my family again. Now, you've taken them away from me!
My rank, and all my achievements toward Kanchi have just lost their meaning. I hope you're satisfied.
