Another Event Idea … :)
I noticed something during the last cap ship battle on Saturday. When the UIT ship finally reached B8 is was basically ignored while people did pvp. The cap ship was kind of an after thought.
So how about a PvP war. With teams or individuals fighting all out in Odia somewhere. We could start at a set time and whoever’s left alive longest is the winner or something like that. That way we won’t have to wait for cap ships and we can have 15min of mostly unregulated chaos.
Any ideas for rules?
Edit: Or what if we put some hive queens with escorts in b8 or another system. We could work together to kill them all :)

I've got a great idea for a name for this wonderful new idea!
"Stroke JestatisBess' ego all over again!"

Congratulations Jess! You managed to bring the idiots out of the closet! Interesting, I thought Solra's post actually had an effect on you n00b. Guess not.
And I've got an excellent idea! Maybe anyone who's not an alpha, and isn't so intimately in touch with past events in VO should just all go away and stop playing! That would be great!

LOL Genka that is a good name for it. I do want my ego stroked a lot (just kidding)
Seriously, I didn't know it was an idea from long ago. I just started playing 6 months ago. But is it a bad idea?
I am trying to think of events that we can do. The game is getting kind of boring for me (and I’m sure some other people too.) Any extra player content should be a good thing.
As always your comments and suggestions are welcome. (Even Genka’s :)

How about this, each team (nation specific) has a "home" sector (non station) in Odia. A guide/dev drops a 120 cu cargo widget so that only a moth can carry it) in a sector and the sector is announced. Pilots battle it out for control over the cargo and attempt to bring it back to their sector. The team who keeps the cargo for (insert time limit here) wins. Just like CTF back in the ye days of olde :P
EDIT: By 120 cu I mean a single widget that takes up 120 cu of space, not 120 1 cu widgets.

hmm... it'd have to be some kind of unique cargo, because floating widgets auto-divide themselves... anyone who's ever CtCed in a cent knows that you can nickel-and-dime off of large cargo caches (50cu=> 11cu in-ship + 39cu floating)
nation-based teams are one way we could go, but cap-ship defense is a lot easier to coordinate then free-form combat...

Erm. I think we do this already in B8, just informally.
How about this:
"Mining Madness Scavenger Hunt of DEATH"
The event must occur within a single system (say, Odia). Everyone homes within that system and 2 "referees" are posted at WH's to make sure no one cheats (No one enters/leaves)
First team (or nation) to bring 120 cu of denic ore (or whatever) to the "home" sector wins.
This will teach several skills:
1. Defending a specific ship
2. Group attack strategy
3. Mining under "duress"
4. Running and hiding like frightened sheep
5. Hunting down those who hide like frightened sheep
6. Prospecting
7. Stroking Jestatis' Ego. (We can make him supreme poo-bah of this event as well)
Sneaking up on miners, blowing them up and simply stealing the cargo to win is an acceptable tactic.
Separating up the cargo into one or many ships is an acceptable tactic.
Taunting is an acceptable tactic.
This would be a fun fight, methinks. Replies to this at: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/10462

it seems a good idea to have a good old scrap :), just a big fight and the last one standing wins whould be fun but it whould probably get won by some guy who turbos the the far end of space and just sits there, that cargo idea might help but if it can only be picked up by a moth it whouldent be hard to just turbo boost though the sestem picking it up as you go.
mabie just haveing it like ctf just a cu flag and you have to take it to a a home base (allthough this might defeet the idea of not bothering the devs for this).
but i'd sertainly try to be there for a old school style war :)

How about organizing a lot of players to take the Border Patrol missions at the same time? Makes a big Serco invasion into Itani space in Deneb which the Itani must repel. UIT could participate with whichever side they had good enough standing to take the mission from.
I LOVE Leber's idea.
**APPROVAL**
it's so alternative it's cool, and would make mining an interestingly blood-flowing activity.

I still want to do some kinda of formal pvp war. Any idea for that?

This sounds great as well. Can we all take the same mission while in a group? Might be neat. I've done it myself 2 or 3 times but found it kinda boring, just killing SVG after SVG...
Is there any reward for completing 25 border patrol missions or anything?

I like the idea of a border patrol mission. But with the bots so powerful its impossible to complete. But i heard that denab has alot of unmonitored space. Hmmmm.... (and I hate to meake this a Serco/Itani thing. Maybe I can find away to include the UIT.
How about this an Itani force meets in Denab heading to a sector in Soll II. A Serco fource meets in Geira Rutilus headed to Cantus. The team that gets at least 5 players to the appointed sector wins.
What do you think of that idea? I guess the UIT can help out by supporting either side, but they can't be counted for a win.

Hrm, I think this might be too easy. I'm -1000 Serco and I get through Serco space just fine during the "Deneb Run" races.
weell it won't really be a race. I hope people will try to stop each other at the borders

No. I like the border war. UIT can choose a side to support. Or remain scheeming traders who are only interested in profits.
My favorite idea so far in this thread is LeberMac's, but all of them are good ideas. I prefer Leber's because it seems more RP and less gamey. I love the idea of a war, but not just a shootout. War is supposed to have a purpose, some kind of goal, prize or objective other than annihilation [well, annihilation works in RL, but not in a game where players just respawn, right?]. That's also what draws me to a "Capture The Flag" [CTF] scenario, even though it's gamey to just say we're capturing a flag. If there were some Fabulous Object we could fight over, as is done with the CtC cargo, that'd be cool.
Hmm, come to think of it, CtC is pretty darn close to being a CTF scenario. I suppose what makes this thread's idea notably different is that the UIT might actually have an equal stake in the outcome of a CTF. As a UIT, I don't get excited much about CtC.
