===We are the Guild called Eo's Path, and we are the keepers of the ideals of Eo that transcend race, history, and wrongful deeds of the past. This is our treatise, and hope for the future.===

Guild Constitution ("Our Path"):

(In remembrance of those who came before and hope for those that are yet-to-be:)

We are the members of Eo's Path, a Guild dedicated to the preservation and manifestation of the Eo's life and teachings of peace, harmony, and forbearance to resolve the past.

Eo's Path is an inclusive, multi-purpose Guild that is dedicated, above all, to peace between the Itani, the Serco, and the UIT. War has erupted between all three of our factions, and each has formed its militant groups to support its own kind. However, while Eo was an Itani monk and teacher, we believe his teachings are not restricted to the Itani nation. His message of peace, harmony, and the ending of hatred was for all humankind, and to turn our backs on this message will only mean continuous, brutal war.

We, the followers of Eo's Path, therefore, do not create another militant organization. Our cause is not to force each other into coexistence, but rather heal the wounds of the past and uniting together through the methods that Eo taught at his ancient monastery: study, martial arts, and meditation.

We are civilians of a space-borne community; our activities look different than the monks of Eo's did. Our Guild activities are trading, mining, the training of space-combat-arts, and (above all) the fostering of interracial relationships and harmony. For this reason, Eo's Path is open to Serco, UIT, Itani, and any other people of any background, of any standing. Eo's Path is open for everyone. One who wishes to join us must only be dedicated to the fostering of peace (both inside and outside the Guild), the refraining of violence, and the growth of trade and peaceful coexistence between everyone in the Vendetta universe.

We have a few specific guidelines for our members which regard issues they may be confused about, especially in light of Eo's Path (i. e. Capture-the-Cargo, capital ship battles, self-defense, etc.). We have provided these guidelines for our members as a convenience so that, while our goal of harboring peace is large, our methods are sure and steady. We ask that, if one wishes to walk with us on Eo's path, they read these basic guidelines first—while the Path is a path based on interpretation of ancient literature and ideals, these simple rules, given by the Masters, will keep us walking in the right way and not let us lose balance while we journey together.

In ending, our road is the straight and narrow; our hearts are large and willful. With hope for future peace and strength for the present day, we gove to the world our calling and dream. This is our greatest journey and the highest law for all living-kind. This is Eo's path.

----------------------

Currently, our Guild is open to anyone who wishes to join. We need ten people to create the initial infrastructure of the Guild, and while people are already joining, we need more. You can be a trader, a PvPer, a miner, an ex-militant of any race. We are open to all pilots from all walks of life. Our only requirement is that you be dedicated to the ideals we outlined above, that you take our Three Vows of Community, Social Justice, and Meditation, and that you have a minimum 2/2/2/2/2 liscence rating. If a new player wishes to join but needs to up their liscences, we will gladly offer them assistance.

If you want to join, you must contact 2seraph in-game by private messaging him (i. e. /msg "2seraph" <your message here>). He will respond to you promptly and gladly.

If anyone has any questions about the Guild and the ideals laid out here, they may ask freely. It is also encouraged that they visit the website, since it has a wealth of information about the Guild and our founding ideals. We hope that you may find us intruiging, and, if not encouraging, perhaps challenging.

Go in peace.

to see some newly made posters

The first of those posters is offensive. How dare you call yourself Eo's Path if you make fun of the weak?
Jun 16, 2005 Lord Q link
offensive to who? the people who run in the special olympics or the itani alliance?

if it's those who run in the special olympics i would like to clear this up by saying that i have the utmost respect for the program and those who have the inner strenth to compeet.

if it's the itani alliance:

deal with it

[edit] Seraph, if you agreee that that one is too much i can take it down
Jun 16, 2005 Sun Tzu link
You can say the word "handicapped". It is not a rude word. That poster is offensive to them and to those who help them make a living.

/me writes down "Lord Q" ("M'at")for inclusion in his little black book. Lecter's departure has opened up a slot. How convenient.

*sticks Q right up there on the list next to Mecha...*
Jun 16, 2005 Lord Q link
wow, i never thought that saying the handicapped have inner strenth would get me on a hit list.

oh well.

since the poster seems to be legitamately offending people i'll take it down. But seriously i think you guys are being too up tight. I mean it, wasn't meant to make fun of anyone other than the members of Black Lance and Itani Aliance (and even then only in the spirit of friendly competition).

also to clarify, i'm not against hadicapped people or those who help them.
Jun 16, 2005 Harry Seldon link
I'm not saying you're on my hit list.

You're on my grammar nazi list. :P

*poof* /me turns into FM

Let's keep this on topic people

*poof* /me reverts to Smittens

Q, I believe I've killed you before. But if not...I'd be glad to do so again. As Commander of IA I believe I represent them, so you should probably work on your PvP talent before you go around insulting us.
Jun 16, 2005 Seraph link
*What the heck?*

Guys, calm down. As far as I can see, those posters neither insult the IA, the IDF, the "weak" (whoever they are), or any nation at all, though the intention of "making fun" of the IA and Black Lance makes me uncomfortable. Lord Q, you told me these would have japanese calligraphy on them and that's all. You said nothing about making fun of other Guilds, even in the spirit of friendliness.

Hence, Lord Q, I'd appreciate a few things from you:
1) take the links down. I'd like to review these things with you first, especially when they deal with portraying other guilds.

2) you have *no* right to insult the IA, either directly and indirectly, and I'd like you to officially apologize to smittens for the reference of "the weak" towards the IA, as one of our Guild members.

As for our official position on the IA and other Guilds, about the only guild we openly condemn is the Order of Akan. Everything else is personal opinion and should be dealt with as opinion—and, may I say, talked over in a congenial manner. If anyone's dubious about it, Eo's Path and the IA have roots in the same nation; we're not enemies.

If the IA is concerned about us and our beliefs towards their guild, they need to talk to me. I consider smittens to be a good friend, and would have no problem talking about our diplomatic relations over a nice, cool cup of Divinian Grey. As for anyone else, their opinions are for themselves; and as for our Guild members, if you openly insult people from other guilds, whether commander or simple members, or the guild itself, you too will deal with me. I will not have our Guild's image tarnished before it's even created.

Sun Tzu, if you have a serious problem with the posters, I'd like you to explain fully what it is, because I didn't quite understand your remark.

Lord Q, I'd like to review the posters over with you. Let's do so at a later time, however, since this thread has kind of gotten hijacked. For now, let's take down the link, because I prefer you'd showed them to me before you posted them. That way we can establish more of an official position of what our recruitment posters can look like and what they can have on them. Also, I'd like to take them down simply because they've seemed to cause more harm them good. I like your direction, but we need to look at details.

If anyone else wants to discuss the guild's philosophies, activities, or beliefs, ask about it here. I hope this thread can turn into a productive discussion of what our guild's about, farbeit from the last seven posts.

Ok, so Eo's Path will strive to counter the Order of Akan. How exactly will Akan fight you, given friendly fire rules?
Jun 16, 2005 Seraph link
Given the friendly fire rules, we are extremely lucky. ;)

If we ever fight anyone, it will be out of self defense. We consider waging war to gain peace a total oxymoron, and will pursue all leads for diplomacy and noviolent action before we draw our swords—and even then, we view "swords" much differently than, perhaps, other militaristic guilds view them. See the Martial Arts section for info on this.

If we counter anyone, it's through philosophy and logic. People tend to respond better to open dialogue and honest relationships than to brute force. If these things fail, then actions beyond just our Guild need to be taken—it's obviously a much bigger problem in that case. In the end, however, we're not a militant Guild.

Well aren't the Devs planning an Order of Akan faction?
Jun 17, 2005 Sun Tzu link
LordQ: thanks for removing it.

Seraph: if you are unable to understand why I had a serious problem with the removed poster, there are a few things about life that you still have to learn. All I can wish you is to discover them as late as possible. (to be said with a Yoda of Dagobah voice :))

(I am, of course, joking about putting you on any kind of KOS list, Lord Q. Not that being on my personal KOS list should instill mortal fear in anyone. Heh. My original objection was not to poking fun at the mentally retarded, but your "deal with it" statement higher in this thread.)

Sun Tzu is correct, however, in the overall lack of taste with the "Special Olympics" poster. While funny initially, it leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. Kinda like my stew.

I look forward to good relations with the new Eo's Path guild. It seems to me quite a unique organization, preaching nonviolence, peace and harmony in a universe which has seen too little of that.

(However, the name if the game is Vendetta)

I think that the Eo's Path guild will have a difficult time remaining completely peaceful, however. There are times when strength must be applied to solve problems in the most efficient manner. I am sure that the Itani Alliance can be counted on to aid those itani and UIT in need.
Jun 17, 2005 Lord Q link
my refrence ti the IA as "week" was out of confusion. with no signifigant background on Sun Tsu i wasn't shore if his comment was serious (and regarding the handicapped), or in jest (regarding the IA and/or Black).

Also the point of the poster was largely that the path to peace does not come threw conflict (with a little good natured ribbing in so that the whole series didn't start to look like an after-school special)

Seraph,
i've taken down the link, how and when would you like to discuss them further?
Jun 17, 2005 Seraph link
Thanks man, :) I'll catch you online and we can take it from there. I should be there this evening.

I only saw two posters. Was there a special olympics poster or something that I missed, or does Sun Tzu really know something I don't?
If he did, it wouldn't surprise me.

[Edit]
It'll be interesting to see how this Guild evolves, with all the new things going on here.
Jun 17, 2005 Sun Tzu link
"I only saw two posters" - haha you must have thought I was crazy then :D
Jun 17, 2005 Lord Q link
yes, there was a third poster that was a satire of the itani aliance "special olympics" poster.

i would be extreemly supprised if anyone was offended by the other 2. i am willing to accept the posability that the other one may have been too much
