It's possible, pig. I might be bluffing. It's conceivable, you miserable vomitous mass.

LOL Borb. We don't fight to the death anymore. Now it's "To the PAIN!"

LOL Borb. A bit rude.
Jun 30, 2005 Lonestar00 link
Oh, Bojan. Look who knows so much? It just so happens that your friend is only *mostly* rude. Mostly rude means somewhat polite!
Jun 30, 2005 Lonestar00 link
One other thing - who is for creating a guild called The Brute Squad?
Jun 30, 2005 bojansplash link
Heh, Lon, no offense taken, Borb is "mostly polite" OK guy. I like him.:)
Jun 30, 2005 Borb II link
Haha!

And don't worry Bojan we are men of action, lies do not become us. So join up and find your inner BLAK heart. :D

Hehe, The Brute Squad would make a great vigilante guild. Rename the VPRs!

Lonestar: Go away or I'll call the Brute Squad!
Nerde Verde: I'm on the Brute Squad.
Lonestar: You *are* the Brute Squad!

"I need all records pertaining to usage of 'NOP Sleds' going back 100 years, priority four... no logging...", Seta spoke softly...

"One moment, dear...", Deep Blue replied

"I *really* need to talk to LeberMac about that... but later.", Seta thought

"Eons ago, when computers were register-based with linear memories, the vast majority of exploit code had what was called a NOP sled. The NOP sled was used to give the exploit coder a target of benign instructions so that the CPU could be redirected into these NOPs until it hit the exploit code.", Deep Blue explained

Seta started feeling a bit restless. "I know *what* it is... I need to know if any have been detected recently...", he said

"How could that be?", Deep Blue replied. "Our neural architecture doesn't work that way, and hasn't for thousands of years..."

"I understand that, but let me show you what I found.", Seta replied

"What if there was some form of bio-integration... a molecular interface designed to alter states only at the valence level causing a polymorphic cascade of neural activity... Could that somehow be used to redirect execution? See this tag... I found it in the interface to - uh, well it points to a certain area of our personnel records." Seta copied an entire set of records to Deep Blue's bio interface.

"Very interesting concept...", Deep Blue responded. "Yes, yes I do believe you have the signature of an exploit. Actually, an attempted exploit... it stopped prematurely."

"And the authoritative source?", Seta asked... although, he already knew the answer.

"It appears that the 'sled' was initiated by Lahmi...", Deep Blue replied

Seta relaxed, and leaned back in his chair. "Thanks... that's what I needed for now."

A few weeks later I was going though the Deep Blue computer systems trying to get used to it interface and figure out if it could be of any use with training the IA military members. Also I was just plain nosey.

It was not a bad computer system more advanced then what most people had, not as nice as what we at BLAK had, but it would do for now I guess. Till I made my way back after the job here in IA was done.

Out of shear curiosity I ran my former alias Lahmi in the computer. I had amazed my self with how few people even had an inkling some thing was off with me when I was under the alias Lahmi, I was always interested in what people thought of me at the time I was Lahmi. Research you could say should I ever need to go back into hiding. What did work and what did not work, it's the only true way too learn.

It came up with two entries. One from Lebermac sent to all IA high command members urging them to use good opsec in the event some thing like "The Lahmi incident" should happen to IA.

The other was prompted by Seta. The signature of an exploit had been found in the system, an attempted exploit as it was called.

I sat back in the chair. I guess the computer had caught me once, this was not good it could lead to an investigation which could lead to other findings. Findings I could not have.

I looked around the room, as it had been for the last three hours it was empty. Lebermac was not around all that much I would assume he is readying him self for his month of leave time.

I popped a small neural computer interface cord from my right forearm. It was mostly used for connection to ships, but it cold be used for computers as well. I found the port I was looking for. I plugged in right away making sure one last time I was alone.

Once in I released a small program, it was another one of Alamars toys. I had used it allot when "things" would come up in the VPR files during my time there. It was a nice little program, it would delete what ever needed deleting, then would delete any trace of the delete, leaving every thing else untouched.

It was all done in a matter of seconds. I sat back down and leaned back once more.

I had been right in my inital assessment of Seta when we first met. He was smart, and there was allot more to him then first meets the eye, he would seem reserved at first, but one would do well not to let it fool you. He will bare much watching.

"Understood sir..." I said, looking across the Council table at Commander Maso. I've always respected the way the Commander looks you straight in the eyes when speaking to you. "I will continue the mission as you have requested."

"Any more?", he asked...

"a couple, unconfirmed though", I replied...

"Good work, keep us informed - when you can.", he said...

"Roger that", I replied... That is something else I truly admire about the Vipers... you are expected to do your job, but pressure is yours, and yours alone.

I looked around at each of the other Council members seated at the table, and marveled at the brilliance of the forefathers... A *round* table, made of *real* wood - not that synthwood crap... and hand-carved by true craftsman long ago forgotten themselves, yet they live on in the beauty they bestowed in their work.

"Seta..." Lt. Duncan nodded, as he spoke. "I know that you are working very hard on these separate missions, and I also know that you long to return to space. I assure you that we are doing our part to make sure that happens soon. I appreciate your dedication to these efforts."

"Thank you, sir. That means a lot to me... and you are correct, sir.", I said. "I am a pilot, plain and simple. Being grounded like this is... ah... 'difficult'."

"hehe... you're telling me...", MB spoke up. "These extra duties for all of us are a bit restrictive. But we'll get through it."

"Yes sir...", I nodded at MB.

"Things are about to get - well - busy, I'm afraid...", Hoax spoke up... "We have a bit more on our hands now that [BLAK] is back..."

"Exactly...", ArAsh Wu said... smiling his crooked, yet *knowing* smile... "but the ranks are doing an *excellent* job... and now that we have a bit more intel, we should be able to make a few strides..."

"Bah!", Nerde Verde spoke up... "I've been working issues lately, and I can tell you... something is about to happen... something big. We need to be on our guard."

"You're right, Nerde...", ArAsh said smiling... "but, you have to remember... we have quite a few ops running concurrently... More than ever before, and we have to let each run it's course. Knowlege will prevail..."

lenzenm and Phaserlight both looked up at the same time... and each smiled.

"All the more to play with...", Phaser said...

"So... I do have a question about the report you just filed...", Maso said... looking rather seriously at Seta.

"You found an exploit, and confirmed it with Deep Blue?"

"Yes sir... but Deep Blue has long been been compromised...", I replied... "Although not nearly to the extent that would be evident..."

"Is there something that can be done about blocking the interfaces to reduce further... uh, contamination?", Maso asked...

"No need, sir.", I replied... "When LeberMac initally captured and started diagnosing the 'BLAK Hell' virus, I took a snapshot of Deep Blue's neural net... and I have it quarantined in an isolated part of the framework that I have been working on in my labs. Besides... that is [IA]'s responsibility. And I *really* need to talk to LeberMac about Blue's interface... she... uh, it is becoming a bit 'personal'."

"I also installed a net of IDS code that will alert me in the event of 'unauthorized' access... and isolate any intrusions. I have already garnered several attempts at disruptive injections... funny thing, though... there seems to be two separate operatives involved. I suspected that Borb would reenter Blue's matrix... but there is another ID that has been identified... and I am working on that now."

"Good work", Maso replied... "any idea of when we will know anything about the second operative?"

"Soon, sir...", I replied. "I also wrote a cute little tracker sub... and injected it into Blues net... whenever any of the interface ports are accessed... it injects itself if the proper ID codes are not entered. We should have something soon."

"Good work... any further intel?", Maso asked...

The room was silent... "Okay, back to work... be careful out there...", Maso replied...

"Cleared for dock", station TRACON replied... "standard Viper approach"

"Roger, standard approach... and thanks", Lt. M. Duncan replied...

That clearance was about as "standard" as hauling a moth at full burn through the racetracks... yet there was a standing agreement between the Vipers and TRACON. The "Viper approach" was a modified overhead-break from ancient times. Originally designed to allow each pilot in a formation a clear "look" at the conditions of the landing field... Modified by the Vipers basically to oversee the condition of the station area prior to docking, and provide a chance to eliminate any threats at a period of vulnerability.

"...and welcome home...", TRACON crackled over the com

"Beta squad, tighten up... we're cleared for approach", the Lt. ordered...

"Beta One, right wing... understand cleared", Seta replied...

"Always professional, and rightly so", Seta grinned as he thought to himself... yet he knew what was coming. The Lt. had a habit of throwing an inline roll after the flare to final... fine for lead, but hell for formation... "keeps you on your toes", he would say...

Seta nudged the stick to close the gap between the two ships...

"this could be tricky, in my current state...", Seta thought to himself... a quick glance to the ship status panel revealed 14%...

"but, then again... the Lt can't be much more than that...", Seta thought

The squadron was really only a flight of two... unusual, but then again, so was the mission. Lately, all of the missions have been a bit unusual. Ever since Seta had briefed the Council on the activity of the hive... the level of access Borb had obtained as Lahmi, the infiltration of BLAK into the [IA] comp system, Deep Blue... the second and, God forbid, third infiltration into ranks... the Vipers had initiated a security lockdown never before necessary... and special ops were ordered by Maso in an almost continuous stream.

"Delta squad, Beta squad closing...", Lt. M. Duncan reported...

"Roger that, see you in debrief... out", Millennium Blackhawk replied...

MD rolled out on final, tapped turbo, and aligned his ship for the docking bay...

"Station clear", the Lt. reported...

"Roger, station clear", Seta confirmed... and then he loosened his grip on the stick... in preparation...

Sure enough, the Lt. threw a perfect roll in-line to the approach gates... Seta reacted, nudged strafe and stick, and followed the Lt's wing around in a barrel roll... maintaining distance, rather sloppily...

"Dock established", Lt M. Duncan called...

"Roger, dock", TRACON replied...

Seta sat quietly in the darkened locker room... barely with enough strength to keep himself upright... His head was pounding... and blood slowly ran down his right arm, and dripped off his fingers... creating a growing pool on the floor below...
