TGFT Mining Event

Jul 13, 2005 Obsidian link
**** NOTE TIME AND LOCATION ****
A group mining event is scheduled for Friday, July 15th at 9pm CT (2:00 am GMT) in AZEK.
**** NOTE TIME AND LOCATION ****

IDF has offered to provide defense for miners participating in the event.

We will be returning to Azek because it has unmonitored sectors and the bots are of a reasonable difficulty when mixed with the potential live pirates.

This event will introduce the "That Guy Memorial Challenge" after a sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous. The miner who first completes the challenge (as described at the begining of the event) will earn a bonus of 250,000 credits.
This challenge will start before the group mining event at 8:30pm CT (1:30am GMT), in Aezk I-4.
*** MINERS WILL NEED A SCANNER FOR THIS SPECIAL EVENT ***

We will also accept pre-arragned mining teams if guilds or other interested parties wish to form groups.

If you have any questions, post here or /msg Obsidian in game.
[EDIT] I've added some additional information

IA would also like to offer it's services as either miners, defenders, or any thing else you may or may not need.

IA could field a team of miners, and provide a few floater defenders.

Sounds good I'll have my people ready.

I'll have to check with some guildies, but I think the IGPK would like to have a group there as well, miners and defenders.

I will of course be there. Free Privateer Larry LeBeauf will be there for anything you need, if there already are too many defenders I will bring a Centaur with minig equipment (I like magnetotwin but can also bring something more powerful or specialized, no problemo, even a moth or a maud).

Count with me Obsidian ;)

CYA in game.

The winner of the Mineral Scramble Special Challenge was Borb with a confirmed find of 1 asteroid. Orus thought he had found an asteroid but flew off before confirming and spent most of the remaining time trying to back track and find it.

These miners had to scan roids in a bot infested sector and find roids with specific % of ferric ore, To confirm they had found the intended asteroid they had to /mgs me with the type and % of the other ore(s) in the asteroid.

We will run another mineral scramble this Friday about 30mins before the Group Mining Event.

The group mining event was balanced and we have some new techniques for added security and to share leadership responsibilty among the participants.

Azek continues to offer a reasonable mix of hive bots, unmonitored sectors and Helio/Pentric asteroids. If only we could contract with the TPG station to stock better equipment, then we'd have a perfect set up.

Solution, ? and Alamar were agressive pirates and they contribuited to ten deaths. However, Mecha Touriaus was dead on with his rail gun and killed several pirates.

Next event. Same Mining Time, Same Mining Place.

Due to the lower numbers of online and active players (maybe the draw of the test server is too much?) The mining event is being suspended until further notice.

Awwwwwww!

I'll echo dbradhud's "Awwwwwww!" Although I haven't participated in too many of these, I always enjoyed them. My problem is that weekends in the summer tend to keep me away from the computer.

I hope the mining events will resume at some point. I will make more of an effort to ignore friends and family so that I can participate.

I was unable to make it this last time because I was out of town, I do hope they continue, they were the only thing left in game that was any kind of fun. Please do not discontinue them.

I'm working too hard on this game. It has become stale and a major energy sink for a volunteer position. I need to step back and re-evaluate my time commitment to Vendetta. Maybe after a short break I will see the game in a new light and be refreshed. At that time I may consider running mining events again. However I will be taking a sabbatical to work on other things of interest.

I will pass on my notes to the devs and wish them well.

Any other guides have what it takes to run an event for the server?!?!

If not, I reallllly hope we get some kind of update soon!!

We need to breath some life into stale events. How could we alter or add to the CtC to make if more interesting? Could we do anything with the War script to make it more interesting? Any other ideas for co-op events that guides or possibly a bored dev could initiate for us?

This does not have to be an everyday thing, simply once a week was good enough for the mining expeditions.

Obsidian: Bye I wish you well and Thanks for all your help :(

I sometimes feel the same way. the game is just boring at times. I have to force myself to log in, and i almost never leave the station anymore. I just chat for awhile and log off.

I'm thinking about leaving the game for awhile too. I've already canceled the next couple of Cap ship battles because lack on intrest on my part and others.

Stop your crying.

I'm not leaving anyone. I'm just taking a break from all the guiding, helping, running events, interviewing players, being told how much I suck, etc.. A short hiatus to recharge my betteries. I don't plan to run anything for the rest of the summer. However I did intend on returning to the game in a more formal capacity in September.
