The New Bushido

The New Bushido Code

This is a code that any Vendetta player can play by. No special tags, no tests...none of that stuff. All you have to do is decide to play by the New Bushido Code.

Bushido was the code of honor the ancient Samurai of fuedal Japan followed. They would commit ritual suicide if they failed or betrayed their master. Fear not, there is no need for anyone to /explode and there are no masters you have to obey. You are your own master.

New Bushido focuses on justice, honesty, and self-control. Justice is one of the main factors in New Bushido. Crooked ways and unjust actions are thought to be lowly and inhumane.

Honesty is to be valued. Other players should be able to always trust in one who follows the New Bushido. Bushi no ichi-gon, or "the word of the samurai," transcends a pact of complete faithfulness and trust.

Self-control and stoicism are to be fully honored. You will show no sign of pain or joy. Endured all within--no groans, no crying, no swearing. Keep a clear and calm mind.

Never fight in anger. Fight only for justice and to protect others. Always protect players less experienced and weaker than you.

Lets keep vendetta a fun and happy place....even for n00bs. I invite anyone and everyone to follow this code.

I have fully chosen to follow this code with every one of my characters. I apologize for any mean actions my characters have done.

Yet, Star-lover, I would bet that you have no skills with an actual sword. ;)

Just in jest.

and extreme thread necromancy, but not unnecessary.

Ah yes. This sounds like exactly the opposite of what the current "LeberMac da pirate" is doing...

The Pirate Way focuses on crooked ways and unjust actions. Stealing from others is one of the main factors in Piracy. Justice, honesty, and self-control are thought to be lowly, weak, and "not fun."

Deception, bluffing, and deceit is to be valued. Other players should know to never trust in one who follows the Pirate Way. Yarr-an-gimme-monies, or "the phrase of the pirate," transcends a pact of complete ruthlessness and fear.

Swearing, killing, and being unpleasant are to be fully honored. You will show no sign of self-control or stoicism. Let it all out - keeping things bottled up only leads to indigestion.

Never fight if you know you can't win. Never fight for justice and to protect others, that's for suckers like them Viper fools. Always attempt to pirate or kill those players less experienced and weaker than you, cause that's where the money is.

Yarrr!

I do indeed; damn work computer's lack of IE spell-check.

spell checker suck anyhow. in english, it's usually referred to as bokken but in french, only 1 k: boken. that why on my renovation blog (where that photo is from), i ended up using either spelling interchangeably from time to time.

Is the bokken on the upper-most rack painted, or is it made from two pieces of wood (or is it a shirisaya)?

it's a plastic saya (sword sleeve) for practicing Iaido techniques.

see here for a demonstration of Iaido, as thought by the (Tenshing Shoden--"god-given") Katori Shinto Ryu school.

Iaido are killer-draw techniques for extreme close range combat. Katori Shinto Ryu is a 15th century weapons school.

I practice Aikibudo, wich encompasses Aikido techniques, plus some elements brought back from Daito Ryu (ancestral aikido stuff) and Katori Shinto Ryu for weapons. in Katori, I mostly concentrate on ken-jutsu and iaido, hence the bokken and plastic saya. i've done some bo-jutsu and even less naginata-jutsu. I prefer ken-jutsu, as it helps in developing aiki(bu)do and dayto ryu and i preffer having remnant of a social life rather than have to study too wide a field.

i would like to apologize for any capital letters in this post, btw, but if my teachers would see me document those works w/o ponctuation, i'd pay for it!

edit: the actual blog page of the rack's final construction is here. there are other photos in there where you can see a better view of that saya.
