Since I can't seem to find any traders in game anymore, I figured I'd put my time to better use and invite everyone to participate in a tournament.

This will be a little different than other tournys, I want to see who wins based on pure skill and tactics.
In order to do that all participants will have to use a specific layout of weapons and ships.

So we'll have separate tournaments for each ship layout...

1. Dual Neutron II Centurion Rev C

2. Tri-flare IDF Valk

3. AGT/sunflare warthog mkIV (we could use TD if everyone who wants to participate has access to it.)

Those are just a few, I'm sure there are quite a few others who have layout suggestions so please post them.

I'd also like to do some mixed contests to see who is the best against specific ships.
For example we'd have each centurion pilot take on the 3 best prom pilots.

You're welcome to participate in as many of the unique layout tournys as you'd like.

So I leave it up to you to post here and let me know what layouts you'd like to see, and what mixed contests you'd like to see.

A MGC catagory, and a rail catagory would be cool too.

But I'd use the tri flare maud agaisnt those puny valks, if that's allowed. I mean the combatstats are similar to the valks ... just everything a little more moderate. :P

When are you planning this and is there an entrance fee ? Also are there options for those whose standings won't allow them to compete with say, a Rev C or IDF. Could they use an IBG, SVG or Maud instead?

I think you definately need an MGC category. That beasty gets used a lot in combat.

And if you are gonna put in an MGC, then you need an IBG vs MGC element!

But I'm in for the Centurion duels. Although I think you should combine the top weapons into the same levels, only seperated by type (energy, rocket, large, small): Axia Posis vs N3's vs Guass Mk II. Neut 2's vs, um, er, vs , with, um, maybe.... N2's?

I think that way you will get a better idea of skill, considering that fact that if you took me and say, Niki, me with AAP's and Niki with N3's, you would get a pretty fair fight. But if you were to give Niki axias, or me N3's, the fight would be a bit more uncertain, and not necessarily based on skill simply because one of us would be using a gun we weren't used to.

govbus is an absolute yes, and I must have been out of my mind not to put it in there last night.

The reason I chose a rev c with neut II is that everyone should be able to get that combo, and considering this probably wont happen for a few weeks I'm sure people who don't have it, can get it, or to address snax, people who normally use slightly different setups can practice.

If you really want to test out the axia posis/guass/n3, then you'd have to take on all 3 of those. Again my point here is to award overall skill and strategy, and fighting is remarkably different depending on what weapon you're going up against. I don't want it to end up with people choosing guass to beat posi, and posi to beat neut, and that type of thing. I want to see who can do best with 1 layout.

I guess there will need to be a fee, or at least some funds for prizes, I have some cash I'm willing to let go, but with the categories increasing the prize money is becoming a very large number.

Now for those who want to use vultures, atlases, or mauds, I don't know if there will be large enough numbers to justify their own categories. I think the only way to do that is to have an open category, you'll have to pick 1 ship/weapon combo, and based on the other entrants will pit you off against 3-5 other combos.

Example:
SVG N3 vs. Cent IBG N3
vs. Flare Maud
vs. Cent Guass
vs. Tri-flare Valk
vs. ... you get the idea

and no it shouldn't be moved to RP, as it has nothing to do with RP, it's a fighting tournament, it's not VPR vs. Pirates or anything like that. :P

That's because dodging rails is a matter of knowing that your opponent has them more than anything else, which really means you railers are backstabbers and type killers.

if someone wants to keep track, here's my entry:
Zoras Ock will compete in the Govbus Tourney (Bracket 1) and
the Open (Bracket 2)... with a Centaur MkII or Agresso (if I can raise my Tung standing by then) with neut II and 2 screamer rocket launchers.

And we should get one system just for this purpose... hopefully ask the devs to remove bots from a system for a bit... because playing in asteroid fields is that much more fun.

For registration purposes... I think a Thread should be created in the RP forum... once brackets are finalized.

I'll donate 500k to the pot, as long as I get a free invite :)

I see your point, 0, but I gotta draw the line somewhere with what goes to RP and what sits in General. There's only a one-sentence description to go by, and it does apply to this. General gets a lot of traffic and has many open threads. I gotta keep things moving.

Alright since the suggestions on what events to have have stopped...
I guess put down your character name and which event you'd like to enter here.

I'll propose Saturday August 6th as the date, and we can discuss a time.

Entry fees: I'm going to let you guys decide this, Winner of each event gets the whole pot, so if the entry fee is 100k, and there are 10 entrants in that event the winner will get 1m. I seem to have a reputation for asking too much money from people, so someone tell me what a good entrance fee would be :P

I personally would care more about the actual win, than the money, so if others feel that way we could scrap fees altogether, and maybe just reward a prize for the Open event.

I would not mind paying 50k to get in.

And yes I'll be there. :D
