I heartily agree with Beamrider...excellent post!

I remember playing "Space invaders" when it was a new invention, "Pacman" was strange and exciting, "Defender" was fast and furious...(trails off into inaudiable muttering, recalling epic voyages in "Elite" on the Atari ST, endless hours spent waiting for games to load from cassette tape!) ahhh those were the days!

You young un's dont know how lucky you are to have a game like this! when I was your age.....falls asleep under travel blanket.

Ming (age 42 and a half)

Bah, I remember playing TradeWars on a 300 bps modem. In Telix. On a BBS. We had to walk uphill both ways just to type "ATDT". And I'm only 27!

I can't believe I forgot Seta Ralel he's an old guy too.

So if I ever get back ingame we'll make a "group" (NOT another GUILD) of "Old Farts" consisting of me, Seta Ralel, Ming, Black Omega, GhostWolf, Broma-Ba Slick, and FM/Whistler/Sherpa. Actually there's nothing stopping you guys from doing this anyway. Feel free to start without me, I'll try to get ingame soon and catch up...

We can hang out and reminisce about our Commodore 64's, programming in Fortran & Basic, the merits of Atari vs. Intellivision vs. Colecovision, etc...

Pong..... My father bought us one of the first ones when they were expensive...:) Hmmm....somehow "Pong" and "expensive" don't seem right in the same sentence....

Elite on an ST!!! How could you!!
Elite should only be played on theBBC B. Which i seem to remember cost about a bazillion pounds and you had to install extra chips just to get it to talk to the floppy drive.
Really floppys mind you!!! 5and a quarter inchers...

/me goes off at a tangent muttering about modern decimal currency etc etc
