Hive Leviathon Battle

Aug 12, 2005 JestatisBess link
There will be an Hive Leviathon Battle Saturday, August 13, 2005, at 7pm GMT. Use Daylight Saving Time (where applicable) to translate the time.

This battle is for all nations. Its a chance for us to finally work together agaist a common enemy. Our goal is to beat back the hive not kill each other off.

_Ghost_ will be the Supreme Commander for this battle and he will detirmine our overall stratagy. He will post further instructions below.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE DON'T KILL A LEVI PAST 1 PM GMT ON SATURDAY. THERE WON'T BE A BATTLE IF WE CAN'T FIND A LEVI. THANKS

So post any stratagy below or anything else. As always your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Current Battle Plan:

Once we see how many people we have, groups will be divided up. Several small groups of fighters will draw off each of the queens near the leviathon. Once the queens are clear of the levi, a large group, possibly two, of heavy assault ships will jump in and begin the attack on the leviathon. When the assault group is out of ammo, the group leader will sound a call for ammo. At this time, all ships in need of repair will exit to do so. The bomber squadron will announce when it is ready to return to battle and will wait for an all clear signal from myself which will be given as soon as all queens are again clear from the levi. All bots will respawn almost as quickly as we can kill them, so the focus should be to draw the queens away and open a window for the bombers. All group leaders will communicate with myself on a channel to be named later in order to coordinate our efforts. If it becomes necessary, a small fighter group will be assigned the task of destroying any bots repairing the leviathon. Also, if we have enough people, a small fighter group will be assigned the task of escorting the bomber groups to keep any spare bots from attacking them. And assisting the bombers in any other way that seems fit.

Rules of Engagement:
-Group leaders monitor a specified channel and relay orders to their group. Members of groups may monitor the channel as well, but to keep confusion down only group leaders may speak on it.

-Fighters jump in first, each group takes a queen with the objective of luring it away from the levi.

-Bombers jump in at the signal the levi is clear of queens.

-Bombers inform all groups when they are reloading.

-Group leaders have authority within their groups. Obey their orders.

-If repair/reload is necessary for fighters during battle, notify your group you are leaving.

-Stay with your individual groups. Don't run off by yourself. Above all else, work together.

The position will be scouted out and queens will be assigned to groups prior to battle. Once queens begin respawning, group leaders call your queen. If assistance is needed, use sector chat to call for help from another group.

Oh, and have fun!

[rant]I'm gonna start getting angry at people if they don't start checking their spelling... It's LeviathAn. Not LeviathOn or LeviathIn.[/rant]

Anyway... sounds like fun. You guys go have it for me. Sorry about the rant, but people really need to check their spelling... >.<

I wanted to thank Ghost for leading us to a successfull victory. Over 10 players participated including a1kon in his superbus. It was the first time in recent memory all three nations came together for a common purpose. Thank you all again.

I hope the developers where able to get some good data that will help them make the game better.

I'm thinking about making the next Levi battle this Wenesday August 17, 2005 at 11 pm GMT. That way people who can't be there on the weekend could participate. Let me know what you think

Post edited, I'm not going to go as far as e-mailing John about this. Let's just say that disrupting planned community activities seems very counterproductive and ruins the fun for all involved. I hope the involved person realizes this and will refrain from repeating his actions that drove players away from the community activity in the future.

That was fun.

The tactics used were quite effective, but would be more so if we had more fighter squadrons.

Working with the other Nations was quite fun and rewarding... I can't wait until we can bring capships into this.

Ghost: I suggest you email john at john@guildsoftware.com about Blackhole Goldclaw. Tell him exactly what happened. He needs to be stoped and the only way that is going to happen is to report him, not in public on the forums, but in private directly to the developers. I already emailed him about what happened yesterday.
