1st Weekly Corporate Sectors Run Results

Oct 01, 2005 moldyman link
Okay race fans! This was a great race. There was everything you could want: Death, people quitting and the cheat. All in all a good race though.

Let's meet our racers:

ananzi - A former test racer and self proclaimed ruler of Sedina B-8
Valkyrie Vengeance with a Railgun and an FC Batt

foz2916 - CDC council member
Orion Convoy Guardian Hornet with no weps and an FC Batt

Calder - An itani-hater who happens to be itani
Centurion Mk3 with no weps and an FC Batt

Faceless - Commander of the ST6 guild
Vulture Mk3 with no weps and an FC Batt

Harpo - IDF representative in the race
IDF Valkyrie with 2 nuet mk3s and a sunflare with an FC Batt

Dragon of Fire - Commander of the EnB guild and major contender in the Deneb Run races.
IDF Valk with no weps and an FC Batt

And wth a coundown and a scanner firing the race began! Some racers yet again tried the direct approach while others plotted around the asteroids. This week the gamble didn't pay off. As such DoF and ananzi got stuck in storms while Harpo, Faceless and fooz2916 passed them. Apparently, the sixth racer mistook the directions given and made a wrong turn to the left heading for serco space. But he benefited from that as he now knew storms were in the way.
Throughout a good deal of the race, Harpo, Faceless and fooz2916 would be switching up a lot but be within seconds of each other. Entering Ukari,Harpo led folllowed by a tie between Faceless and fooz. Before they would enter Arta Celastis, Faceless took over folowed by Harpo and then fooz.
anazi was close behind entering Ukari L-2, as DoF got stuck in his second storm of the night. It appears that ananzi had bought a defective batery from a shady dealer in Latos. His battery run outs were really slowing him down, as Calder was now catching up to ananzi.
The current order was: Harpo, fooz2916, Faceless, anazi, DoF and then Calder entering into Dau. This would be the widowmaker of the night.
Entering Dau, the leaders zoomed for the Nyrius wormhole. fooz2916 had hit his first of three storms in Dau as shaody plotting showed, he plotted into more storms than he wouldve otherwise hit. anazi behind him hit another storm in Dau, as Hrpo and Faceless zoom ahead into Nyrius, with Harpo in the lead.
At this point, due to slow loading times and lots of storms, Dragon of Fire could not survive the pressure of the Corporate Sectors Run and dropped from the race. Harpo entered Verasi as Faceless was abou to leave Nyrius, anazi enter it closely followed by Calder. And fooz was ast still stuck in another storm in Dau. After declaring he was out(which I did not see at the time) he hit a 4th storm in Dau heading for Azek.

P.S. - fooz was not disqualified as pointed out above. Sorry for the mixup.

Back to the race, Harpo had just entered Edras while Faceless was in Verasi and anazi and Calder were neck and neck in Nyrius. anazi took damage from an Itani zealot by the name of "Jestasis Bess", but he troopered on. But Calder surpassed him inhis battery quality and zommed past him into Edras.
The race continued as such, witht he occasional switch between Faceless and Harpo for 1st and 2nd places. I skip ahead to Sedina B-8. As the racers entered and left B-8 potshots were taken at them. Harpo pulled ahead of aceless by a jump, with Calder a jump behind and ananzi in Odia still.
Harpo amnd Faceless neck and neck the rest of the way to Helios, as it had been for most of the race. Faceless jumped first into Ukari, ollowed by Harpo and Calder just jumping into Latos. anazi, as it so happened had been killed in his own self-proclaimed kingdom of Sedina B-8. This left 3 out of the 6 racer left.
Harpo and Faceless neck and neck entering Helios and raced for Helios B-14! Seconds later Harpo won! With Faceless four seconds behind. Calder eventually finished for 3rd place.

This was a great race. A more fast paced and deadly race if I do say so myself.

Here are the race times:

Harpo with 19:10
Faceless with 19:14
Calder with 20:33
ananzi with death
fooz2916 with dropped
Dragon of Fire with dropped

To compare with last week's times, here are the new top 4 times:

Screwball 18:12
Millenium Blackhawk 18:57
Harpo 19:10 (new)
Faceless 19:14 (new)

No one beat Screwball's test race record, but if you do it's an extra 500k to the FIRST person who does! See you guys next Friday in Helios B-14 at our NEW TIME!

Woohoo! Race testers still hold the two best times... :)

Monk, thanks for the writeup. It sounds like it was a blast. I didn't understand the "cheat" reference, though. Did I miss something in the description?

I didn't catch it the time but fooz said he dropped. Then he reported that he's taking a shortcut thru Azek. That's what I was refering to.

Count me in again. Hey, and I WAS Itani. I don't know why my name is still blue, it should be either red or gray. I have severed all connections with the Itani.

Okay, today I held an impromptu race for fun and smaller credit prizes. And I must say, This race did not turn out the way I thought it would.

Let's meet our racers:

Screwball - Current All-Time recordholder at 18:12 and host of the Deneb Run
IDF Valkyrie with no weapons and an FC Batt

musashi - Serco pilot and regular CTCer.
Warthog Mk 2 with a sunflare and a FC Batt

Ben Ziggz - IGPK guildmember and UIT pilot.
Corvus Vulturius with no weapons and an FC Batt

Well, The race started out as normal. With a scanner firing, they took off. Screwball took an early lead, one which he would hld until Odia (over 2/3rds of the race!) followed by musashi and then Ben Ziggz. Unfortunately, this was not as eventful a race as the one on Friday, but it had it's moments. It seemed around Nyrius, that musashi may have taken the lead over Screwball for a few seconds, but was quickly passed again.
However, once they entered grey space things started to heat up. musashi hit an unmarked field in Pelatus which gave Screwball a ull jump lead on him, whil Ben was all the way back in Verasi. As Screwball entered Odia, I said that they were approximately five minutes away from the record. This is when Screwball got a little greedy with the prospect of beating his own record and made a mad dash through Odia. Unfortunately, he hit not one but two storms. This allowed musashi to not only catch up but pass Screwball and take first place. They were neck and cneck up to Helios. The final jump before the station. musashi took the long way fearing that a storm would sabotage his lad. Screwball charged through for the second time in the night. He got stuck in his third storm of the race, allowing musashi to come into Helios B-14 about 30 seconds before he could. Ben Ziggz finished a few minutes later, obviously sffering from the Vulturius' horrible battery drain.

The times were:

musashi - 18:53
Screwball - 19:39
Ben Ziggz - 27:27

The new records are:

Screwball - 18:12 (Test Race)
musashi - 18:53 (Race #2) NEW TIME NEW TIME NEW TIME
Millenium Blackhawk - 18:57 (Test Race)
Harpo - 19:10 (Race #1)

Race is still on Friday, 1:00am GMT(saturday) or 9:00pm EDT(Friday). Prizes remain the same, nluding the 500k bonus to anyone who can beat Screwball's time.

Meet in Helios B-14
