I, Nikana Olos, Mobius Prime, Mobius One, Oernon the Wise, Noredon Hlaalu, Shadow Guardian, Ulrich Sakira, and Speed Racer, am looking for people willing to assist me with the Deneb Run this coming Saturday.

I am willing to pay a handsome sum to any privateers, pirates, bounty hunters, and other monetarily-motivated types that are willing to eliminate my competitors. I will pay an added amount if LeberMac is eliminated.

The payment will be 50% of my total winnings (no matter what I place) split among all the people who help me with this, so it is in your best interest to eliminate your fellow mercenaries! Also, note that if I die, I am disqualified from the race, so you may wish to provide escort.

I will require completely un-edited logs (I have ways of knowing whether they are edited or not) from all of those making claims.

The money will be paid as soon as I can verify the claims.

NOTE: Among other methods, I will be cross-checking times with my logs, so DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FALSIFY ANY DATA.

I look forward to doing business with you.

"I have ways of knowing whether they are edited or not"

Uh oh! He's got ways! We better just take his word for it and not try anything. Anyone that mysterious must be right!

Hehe. Am i eligible for this "bounty?" Conceivably, I could /explode and still claim a substantial part of the 2 million dollar prize.

I welcome the added challenge of finishing the race with all you suckas gunning for me...

Smittens: Yes, ways. I won't name them because they could conceivably be circumvented if you knew what they were.

Your Speedo-ness: No, you're not. Besides, I'd still end up beating you, and therefore at most you'd come out even, thanks to our little wager... =D

Editing the errors.log file with a text editor ought to be sufficient to BS a log. You'd also be best off editing the creation date and 'last' modified date after saving, if you wish to be more thorough.

So really, if you're reasonably clever, you should have no trouble faking logs. Heck the /echo command ought to be able to do the job for you, INGAME. Maybe. I haven't checked if there are color tags associated with the kills and /echo. But that won't stop our mercenaries!

Oh, one last thing. If you were to leave most of the active channels, it would become exceedingly difficult for him to cross-check timestamps. If you have another computer, you can set that up with a dummy account tuned to 100, so you can still hear the race announcements.

/me just opened the pandora's box of Log-Faking. I look forward to seeing the debates over which mercenary really got the kill.

actually, if you just leave ALL the channels and connect with someone else over a 3rd party voicechat program to get race updates it'd be pretty much impossible to verify a log.

of course this whole thread is basically a waste of time, since this is about the silliest idea i've yet seen in vendetta.

it would be easy enough to require all logs to have channel 100 active continiously through the log.

and besides if everyone claims fake kills than some will be verifiably untrue and that should allow for further comparison.

anyway, this sounds like the sort of thing the CDC could ge behinde, what with our expancion to general mercenary work.

EDIT: Darn it, Lord Q, you beat me to it.

I'm going to require that Channel 100 is active for all mercenaries, and also that they make an announcement immediately over Ch 100 when they've killed one of the pilots.

Screwball, if you'd request a location update as soon as the kill message hits Ch 100, I'd appreciate it (since obviously they wouldn't pay attention to me).

To tell you the truth, I have no idea, but I think Screwball will post about it soon enough.

Just don't shoot all the UIT you see... =D

*sigh* Nothing like good 'ole UIT Economic Persuasion....

Yeah, pure Union thinking here: if you don't have the skills to cut it, pay to cut out the competition. Dark Knight's my kind of trader.

Watch as our ships zoom past the bounty hunters. I hope they can kepp up. ; )

Hit my ship first Lecter and then talk. I recall many races where your swarms couldn't keep up =P

I would take up this job, but I think I'd make more money just racing myself. However, boosting up the rep. of the CDC is a nice plus.

Oh really Lecter? I remember a few races back, I *ahem* eliminated DoF and one of her subordninates to protect my CO's interests. With swarms. They just need to be used right (they work quite admirable when you fire a volley in their faces =P)

This REALLY sucks, but I'm afraid that I *might* be out of town this weekend, and unable to make good on my bet or the entertainment. So maybe delayed until next weekend if you all have your heart set on shooting me out of the race.

I've been killed a grand total of ONCE during any Deneb run, and it took the gank team of SpaceHunter & Ayn Eizert combined with Kalki to do it.

I was looking forward to finishing the race easily, spurred on by Lecter's flare shots that at best are a mild inconvenience.

Well, even if Leber is out of town this weekend, my offer is still open.... Leber isn't the only racer.

@ vIsitor: The reason you got me with swarms that one race was because I made a couple of REALLY big mistakes in that sector. One being that I went straight for the WH when I knew you were there, instead of trying to avoid you, the other being that I didn't put enough distance between us when I got to the WH, so I was blasted before I could jump.

Ever since then, no one has even touched me with swarms, and a LOT of people try to use them on me.
Nov 03, 2005 vIsitor link
That is good to know. i was worried that your skill might have become a bit lax, and I am glad that is not (or at least, is not longer) the case.

/me suddenly feels the laser pointed at his head.

>.>;

How could you abandon me like this Leber?

"/me suddenly feels the laser pointed at his head."

Hey, you're an athlete and a genius!

/me wanders off to make sure he has several FC batteries stockpiled at M-14
