Phoenix was the baddest pirate in the old, 13-sector galaxy. While there had certainly been killers before, it was mostly faction-oriented violence. Phoenix was the first widely successful opportunistic pirate, and certainly the first to prey primarily on traders, with no regard for national origin or factional alliances.
he wasn't the best pirate, though. Icarus was the best pirate, Phoenix was more of a pk'er.

As for the record, where Icarus was god with Rockets, Phoenix was his match with energyweapons. And IMO, quite a bit more dangerous than Shape is. I used to stand my own quite decently in combat vs. Shape, not so vs. Phoenix.

Phoenix is very good. The record of our fights is public, as we dueled all 3 times.
Its also been a long time since we last fought. There are a number of things I've learned since then. Trust me, I'm better than I was, which is to be expected, since I've been relatively active.
