Nation War Event #3

Feb 26, 2006 moldyman link
Hello hello all! great fun was had today in the unmarked field residing in Sedina D-2. Now, before I go on about today's event, I would like to mention the event on Friday.

In absence of the TGFT Mining Event, I decided to run a tst event to see what turnout would be at the proposed alternate time on Friday. Boy oh boy, was it crappy. Six Serco, one Itani(me) and two UIT. Now, since this was horrible turnout considering that about 40+ players were on, I am rejecting this idea. Also because the people who begged for that change weren't even around.

Now on to today's event

Itani:
_Ghost_(Team Leader)
Blue Streak
Demonor
slime70
Kirso Duivaa
Niki
Dazlme
Kioal Darkblade

UIT:
Stranger(Team Leader)
auouymous
Envill
Daneel
Menendel
Ion
Ecka Estenk
Pilot 13

Serco:
Baron Koob(Team Leader)
kalb
DingDong
Ryan Stasis
Redlac

My observations during the event, again as always, are skewed by being my own sight and not a third person view.

Basically, with my signal, the Itani and UIT headed towards each other not at full speed. I was flying a Valkyrie Vengeance with 2x Sunflare Rocket Launcher and 1x Axia Accelerated Positron Blaster. The Serco went slower and hit both groups while we were already mingled in dogfights. Calling out Stranger as a target in his Agresso, and seeing how deadly the dual AGT setup was last time, I went after him. After about a minute of firing flares and my AAP, he was taken down by conecntrated fire. We then broke off and went after individual targets. I went after Menendel and ook him out with three or four flare volleys and some AAP hits.

I moved off to assist _Ghost_. I forgot who he was fighting but I only scored one or two AAP hits on his Rev C before he was taken out. We were pretty far from the fight at that point so I turboed in and unloaded the last of my flares on auouymous. Then two of us when after DingDong, I getting the last few AAP hits on him to finish him off. Then, only Redlac was left. We all went after him. It took a good minute or two and losing Kioal Darkblade, but we got him in the end. Congrats to slime70 on the winning kill.

The survivors were _Ghost_, Blue Streak, Demonor, slime70 and Niki. Each survivor received 400k each as a split portion of the two million credit prize.

Remember, every Sunday at 11pm GMT(6pm EST) the Nation War Event takes place in Sedina D-2.

I had fun and I hope you did too! Please post comments, suggestions, your own battle stories, etc.

EDIT: The score so far is UIT - 2, Serco - 2, Itani - 2

This was my first nation war, and I have to say, I thought it sucked.
The pre-war excitement was quite a bit of fun, and I managed to pull off two or three scathing jokes, but as soon as the war actually started, the fun factor went down like a plane without wings and no fuel left. Unlike a the fall of a ballistic missile*, however, this fall did not result in an explosion of fun. The only other joke I could really make until the end was "boy, we sure are wimps" to my team after a minute of what seemed like intense combat between 'tanis and UITs we noble sercos have yet to have taken a single hit. I didn't even move up till that point. As you can see, that's not very funny.

Plus, my team-mates told me that we're not to be shooting the UITs until we'd killed the 'tani, which I thought was a futile gesture, seeing as how the blues had obvious number advantages and also happened to have the biggest collection of revcs and nikis on board. Be that as it may, I had to shelve my ambitions of possibly keeling the evil syn newb "daneel." To add insult to injury, this guy was newb enough that I think I could have taken him. Unfortunately, my ambitions were ended when some centjock in a revc jumped me just as I wasted my last jack in an aimless shot at the back of some 'tani's valk.

So, to sum up,
pre-war: vaguely fun
war itself: kinda crappy
after-war: crappier still, because I was mad at the devs for making all the mobile items in the game faster, so I couldn't come up with any good jokes.

Maybe next week, I'll bring swarms! That'll be a hoot!

You shudda taken unilateral action as you saw fit instead of listening to your teammates, Genka, specially since you were the team leader and the Itani had Niki.

Also, now that you know how the event plays, you might want to work on some jokes before the event, bind them to keys, and letting them out as they become relevant during the event. National epithets, bathroom humor, and calls of "get some skillz, j00 whatever-jock!" are always good for such an event.

I missed it like I thought I might!

Ah well. At least the Itani won.

Thanks for making this happen everyone, I'll start checking the message boards more often. I just signed on and heard about it this time. I'm really sorry I killed you before the thing started Ghost. It was really fun though. I killed almost 5 people before realising that all my teammates had decided to die on me, :C It was pretty funny when I opened up the sector list and saw I was the only non-Itani left. Nasty surprise.

Anyway, maybe I could try being the leader sometime, do you think? I have a couple ideas. We really didn't have much of a grand strategy.

I wish I could have participated, but I had to get up early the following day, so...

Maybe next time.

As for group leadership: Since we're nowhere near having a military hierarchy, you can criticise and suggest all you want, since most decisions are made by the group as a whole. The problem with this is of course that you cannot discipline those who do not follow the agreed-upon strategy.

I thought it was a lot of fun. I wasn't expecting to do that well personally, since it was my first nation war and my PvP skills are severely lacking (something I WILL change in time). I was just glad to have punched a few holes in Niki before Blue Streak cut me down with flares o' death. Anyway, I'll be practicing up as usual and be back next week.

*Sigh*

Look, when I initially asked about these sorts of events, I asked for some prior warning before the events took place. I eventually found out about the event about an hour before it started, when I was already somewhere where I couldn't connect to VO. I'm hardly ever on at the same time as you, and I dare say some of the other players aren't in constant contact - you can't just declare in VO chat that you've changed event times, and expect the offline players to suddenly know through the power of clairvoyance or something. A forum post or something _before_ the event would be tops. Complain all you want about player absences, but we can't help that we're not psychic.

The best answer to cabagee's plight is simply:

Find someone to run these events in your own time slot.

I find it ridiculous when people from other time zone DEMAND their needs are catered to by everyone else; good God people, can't you run these things on your own?! the rules are posted here for everyone to see! Race, Battle, Mining event, whatever, why don't you simply make the effort to set one up in your time, instead of harassing those who choose to make content? Could it be that you can't be bothered to do what you're demanding of these people? Buncha idjits!

You are not replying to terribleCabbage's criticism. He would like a warning in the forum ahead of time (maybe a day?), so that he can participate, and I agree with that.

Also, I would have asked for that changed date on Friday, as well, and I was around...

Jex: Nice troll.

Toshiro: Thanks.

It'd be nice to have any idea of where the active players are in the world... *Rubs chin.*

I'll set a thread up, see how many responses I can get. :P
