Yet you accuse us of having no honour

And yet you post: If you force either the UIT or the Serco Dominion to go through the hurdle of human shields, you hurt them – indirectly. And we will do what is necessary to eradicate you, you can be sure of that

So you would do anything, even kill civilians to get to us? How honorable is that?
Mar 17, 2006 toshiro link
We have to, in order to protect our own people. Our loyalty before all other things goes to the population of the Serco Dominion. That is honorable. I have stated beforehand that everything necessary will be done. It is actually up to you to decide what will be necessary. I also said that we would prefer to avoid any loss of civilian life or other collateral damage. But if that proves to be impossible, then so be it.

And clearly, endangering, and thus betraying, the people who protect you, those people being the Itani civilians, is not honorable.

Ceterum censeo Akani essent delendi.

How many Serco are we talking about here, slime73?

When they controlled b8? One. When SCAR and myself came to clear em out? About seven.

"I. Hate. Akanese."

I guess you weren't there when we completely took over B8 for a while, killing all the Serco until it got past 5:00 AM for some people...

at 5AM i doubt you had that many people to contend with...

ooooo.. wow, you and a few friends got together for a gankfest when there wasn't anyone on to really oppose you... i'm afraid now.

On the other hand thank you for proving me wrong... I didn't think my opinion of the new akanese guild could get any lower, but it did.

Actually around half of SCAR were on...

Now, now, Tosh, let's not overstate your case. After five years of latin (it's not a proper noun as you used it), and too much italian to count, I am not willing to re-decline my imperative verbs to agree with a word from VO, unless I HAVE to. And here, I most certainly do NOT have to.

I am, as you have seen, more than willing to rewrite the noun to latinize it with an eye towards mirroring the pronounciation of "Carthago." (which IS a proper noun and is thus captialized; try to keep up now).

Furthermore, it is entirely correct that, like "le gente" in italian or "populus"/"populusque" from your favorite latin phrase and mine (SPQR), the concept of "the Serco people" would be singular as a latin noun being identified for gender/number.

So, I could indeed use "Sercovius" or "Sercous" or any other spelling with a masculine singular latin noun ending that I goddamn well felt like with "delenda est," and be correct, or at least as correct as your transposition of "Akanese."

Furthermore, I need not use the full phrase of Cato Sr., since I'm not stating my conclusion, but rather an imperative (hence "delenda est").

Screw you, too <3

P.S. Semper ubi, sub ubi!

P.P.S. Sercovius delenda est.

There can be a diplomatic solution to this bikering.

Why not just give Deneb and Eo to the Akanese? If this is done it allows the peaceful Itani's to continue their peaceful persuits and also provides a buffer zone in case the Akanese fail in their struggle. Give the Akanese the keys to the Goliath guns, I figure.

Itan can explore new systems and quickly terraform new planets and maintain it's "aloofness". New systems would be nice to explore and who know who or what will be found in these frontiers. Other sentient lifeforms would be nice to meet and exchange goods and ideas.

If there is anything about the past sins of our fore-fathers is that we can always make a better future.

/ooc The Deneb run can be turned into a semi-annual event that also encompasses pvp skills and botting (like the Olympics or Commonwealth games).
Mar 17, 2006 jexkerome link
WTF are you smoking, Tianzi? The same thing zamzx is? There are no new systems to explore, the Akanese themselves made sure of that by keeping the wormhole to their homeworlds hidden! Once they are found (and the Akanese eliminated) we can go and look if they lead somewhere else. As it stands now, though...

Plus, if the Akanese want some systems of their own, I suggest they try and wrest back Betheeshee and Geira Rutilus, which used to be Itani-controlled and were lost regardless of Akanese participation.

If all they can do is bomb civilian targets and arrive to stem the tide once the Serco have captured entire systems, I don't see much future for them or the Itani nation they claim to be protecting.

Akanese are terrorists, and, like the saying goes (more or less) a terrorist is someone who revels in the suffering of others and only looks for a reason to indulge in his sick passions.

Might I add onto Jex's already apt description: an itani terrorist is someone who is crunchy, and tastes good with hot sauce.

<...>I am not willing to re-decline my imperative verbs to agree with a word from VO, unless I HAVE to. And here, I most certainly do NOT have to.

Actually, I think you do. If you use another language, show it the respect of using it properly. Whether anyone who understands it watches or not is immaterial, in my opinion.

So, I could indeed use "Sercovius" or "Sercous" or any other spelling with a masculine singular latin noun ending that I goddamn well felt like with "delenda est," and be correct, or at least as correct as your transposition of "Akanese."

Apart from the fact that you conjugated delere wrong, Serco is an irregular noun, it is the same spelling regardless of declination. This has been stated very often, for a very long time, whereas the Akanese are rather young. I would thankfully accept any kind of quasi-official latin rendering of the noun, however.

latin (it's not a proper noun as you used it)

I thought that if you use the nominalization of an adjective to describe a language, it needs to be capitalized? I could be wrong on this. But dictionaries seem to prove me right. Also, since it is of the same nature as French, American, English, German, etc., I think it should always be capitalized. If not, my bad. English isn't my first language, please indulge my grammatical, cultural or spelling errors.

Furthermore, I need not use the full phrase of Cato Sr., since I'm not stating my conclusion, but rather an imperative (hence "delenda est").

Fair enough.

On a sidenote, I do not wear underwear in the shower.

Also, let's end the Latin grammar dispute here, because I have no time to re-learn Latin (I really don't), so you would probably beat me over time, and we can't have an Akanese beating a Serco, now can we?

Oh, and: This is all in good humor, right? I just can't stop myself from splitting hares when it comes to faulty Latin (if I spot it). If the attack was too personal in nature, I do hope you accept my apologies.

I just can't stop myself from splitting hares

just for reference you are chopping up rabbits here toshiro.

the english word you are looking for in this case is hairs.

didn't we just have this thread .. ahh there it is http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/8/13095

to summarize, the 5 (or 6) english words with that sound and thier definitions follow.

Hairs - the stuff that grows out of your body
Heirs - the people that will inherit your fortune.. (or your debt) usually your children
Hares - cute fuzzy rabbits that taste good in soup or grilled over open flame.
airs - small ways of acting superior, usually used in the expression 'puttin on airs'
errs (or errors) - To make a mistake, in this case you were in err to use the word hare.

normally i wouldnt bring this up, but we did just have this discussion in that other thread, plus i dont know latin so i cant argue about it.
