Deneb Run security

After viewing the attack in the last deneb run last weekend, i thought to myself 'Nothing in this glaxy can be kept peaceful for long'. I've decided to annoucne to all pilots out of my own juristiction that while some pilots prep up for a deneb run, we should have sime hired players to patrol while the players getting ready wont get attacked last time.

As i said nothing in this galaxy can be kept peacefull and last deneb run proves it. I hope some other players take this into consideration.

Um... wait. [BDC] is providing security for the Deneb Run? Hm.

lol

the random rocket and agt fire that comes from BDC-prom squads will probably hit the troublemaker...and then destroy the rest of the racers in the recoil.

You can bet on it lol

Having looked at Wedge Antilles' char profile, it looks like he's a BP leveled alt. IMO.

A number of people are: what's yer point?

I think Wedge should not be an alt. I mean, do *you* want Luke to be an alt too? That would be so wrong.

I was meaning that we hire some OTHER players not BDC, im sure Lord Hiroshima would provide the sec guards if i asked him though.

*Hirosama

Where was I... oh, yes. The pirate attacks are part of what makes the Deneb Run interesting, and gives the racers things to whine about (that's necessary, too!).

Dear BDC,

Thank you for providing such excellent service in protecting the racers in yesterday's Deneb Run.

Sincerely,

lol I wish I hadn't had a firm dinner. What happened? ;)

Zugok, this isn't fair. Providing escort for racers is hellishly difficult, because

a) They're not nice little racers who flock together, but rather a drawn-out line of people wh'd kill each other if they had weapons;

b) it's difficult to provide escort for ships;

c) people don't get anything for providing any cover, and

d) some racers probably do not really know how to evade incoming fire from chasers.

Please note that this is meant to be a general defense of BDC, I have no idea whether they actually provided any cover at all or not.

dumb question but if these security personell are able to keep up with the racers while fighting off attackers why arent THEY racing?

would've been none, but I missed the starter pistol and got distracted piratin' a pirate outside of the Odia station. Yar!

Zugok is missing the point.

Any defense for racers would be before the start of the race, in the starting sector. Pirating once the race starts is covered by the rules, and in fact pie rats get paid for it. The other point at which defense would be needed would be if the pirates waited for the racers at the docks, since it's very easy to mine the entrances and such. The Deneb Run rules do not pay pirates who do this, but they can't stop them from doing so if they so want. So though escorts running along the racers would be nice, it is not needed at all.

Two things of further note:

- BDC wasn't attempting to disrupt the race as much as deal with a person who had incurred their ire. The issue is now settled, so no further such incidents are expected.

- The pie rats killed the racers in this last Run as per Deneb Run rules, and such made off with 2 million from the 4 million prize bag. All legal.
