The Serco showed up for BS in record numbers today, and gave us one of the closest fights in the history of BS!
Only two brave Itani started the day for us, Cloak and Blue Circle. About half way through, down by more than 200 Itan decided to show up, and from then it was close.
"[Sat Mar 8 15:29:23 2008] [100] <Nautargos> no worries, yall are about to lose"
Spoken by Naut when the Serco had a commanding 100 point lead, as the Capships were weak and points were running out from the Itani. Yet somehow at the end, the spirit of Blue won, and we went from losing 12-204 to 12-4, and managed to clean up in the end.
Great job Itani!

I'd like to see which medals the Serco give out THIS time:
The Brass Cross: For service to the Dominion where you ALMOST performed a heroic feat, or...
The Medal of Good Intentions: For Meaning to Win, even though, in the end, you did not.
etc...
Make sure Pyroman_Ace sees this one... hehe.

^^Thats kinda mean, but god I Lol'd.
Owch Leber, Owch...
But relating to the battle itself: Good work to the Itani, it really was a close fight. We could've sworn we had you locked up until you somehow knocked out that final capital-class and turned the tables.

/me shakes his head
Since when does [ITAN] turn tables? WTF has happened to the Serco? Sounds like the new flavor of [SCAR] is to blame for this sort of half-assed showing.

Yes, unfortunately, Serco turnout has been consistently lower than we'd like for the Deneb Campaign.
We hope though that with increased user's that have been mentioned as coming in the next several months, we'll see an increase in the availability of Serco Military pilots to fight the war.
Additionally, the Serco lack military cohesion, because we are used to fighting in small numbers, where every-man must fight for themselves without regard for large-scale, fleet-style tactics and strategies. Again, hopefully [SCAR] and [SDF] can turn that around and figure out a way to work as a team, and give you Itanis a real run for your money.

I was in the fight too. (I am UIT) and I feel that the lack of UIT participation is staggering. The UIT has the most combat capable personnel of ANY nation, and since the Serco are logistically easier to support effectively, they should be. Yellow banded craft should fly in formation with red painted craft, happily looting the downed enemy capital ships.
(I died a bit more than 70 times, I believe.

Actually Lecter I would say this new flavor of SCAR is the only reason it was close. Serco are finally *starting* to pull together and work as a group.
You've clearly forgotten the damage a Serco Cadre of Armed Renegades group consisting of A-Dawg, Mecha, Viper, BUNNY, and myself used to throw at your predecessor guilds' members, Smittens. I don't blame you for your selective memory--that wasn't a great time for IA or IDF.
I'm not talking about that charlie-foxtrot of a guild that existed for a few months after they booted me for war crimes, and before they "reformed" and got new members. Compared to that band, I'm sure the current flavor is an improvement.
But what wouldn't be?

Well, Lecter, it certainly didn't help that when you got booted from SCAR, you ran away from the Dominion to focus your full attention on being a greatly-feared sissy-pirate, instead of showing them what real Serco pilots are made of. If you think the reds which sired you have become soft, then I say its your own fault for not setting an example for the current generation. Got that, Dr. Hannibal Pretentious Lecter?
But you are right, I'd rely no more on SkyCommand for support than I would a bruised reed. And its not like I really give the blues my full trust either, given the fact that the Akaneese extremists find refuge within their ranks, even if the blues are not fully aware of it.

So... Back on topic. Man was that a nail biter! I have no idea how we pulled that last 100 points off. Boy was that fun.
Wait, is Lecter saying that there was a time when SCAR was skilled and feared?
I don't remember that. The only opponent that you mentioned in that list that I've regularly seen in Deneb running border patrol missions on the Serco side is Viper88. I've seen Lecter and Mecha playing the "Hyena" i.e., not participating in the mission but killing folks by surprise when they get injured and are about to die anyway.
My recollection is that "SCAR Mk.I" hung around in Sedina as a quasi-serco-pirate guild, without much Deneb involvement. Only after Cunjo kinda took over did I see much of them in Deneb.
Of course, my memory may be shit due to, you know, the tequila and all.
And now that all 3 nations hate me I can't do the Deneb thing anyway. Poop. :(

Uh, Leber, SCAR Mk I was largely active before there were any little Itani centurions in Deneb C-10.
Uhmm, BP was there before SCAR, it was just broken at release, cos hive bots chewed up the little centurions before players even entered the sector, so nobody bothered with it. (and there was very little reward).
Oh, and just a FYI Lecter, I wouldn't trust a SCAR mk1 as far as I could conc mine one(thanks hortan!), I regularly side with the current SCAR bunch...

Yeah, 'very little reward' is a bit of an understatement... the mission basically consisted of "kill three Itani/Serco NPCs in C-10 and we'll give you 600xp for combat, light and heavy weapons. And maybe a few hundred credits in spending money."
I'm still trying to remember the time when SCAR was "skilled and feared."...
Yodar: you're mistaken about the relative points in the timeline at which SCAR and BP appeared. You're absolutely correct about how bad it sucked fighting the Orne guardians for the kill, however.
As for your personal preference in flavors of SCAR, I could not care less. You and yours aren't exactly the most trustworthy--or even just plain worthy--denizens of the VO universe yourselves.
