PIRATES HALT TRADE IN DAU!
Following a pitched battle in Sedina, where by all reports the pirate forces of CLM and SYN were dominating what they claimed to be "invading government forces", the pirates assembled in UIT space and wreaked havoc for several hours tonight.
Several well known traders, as well as younger, less experienced traders, fell victim to the pirate onslaught. After making several passes through UIT space, the pirates settled in Dau, controlling the wormhole to Azek. Despite UIT security forces and several independent pilots deploying wave after wave of interdiction attacks, the pirates controlled the wormhole for over 2 hours before apparently calling it a night. Over 5 million credits in goods were lost, as well as nearly 3 million credits worth of ships and weapons. Interestingly, no Viper forces responded to repeated calls for help.
The Cargo Liberation Movement and their allies The Syndicate have become increasingly brazen in the last few weeks, often overcoming massive opposing forces in grey space, but until tonight they have never moved into Nation territory, choosing instead to remain in grey attacking any pilot brave enough to risk the Sedina corridor.
"This move is troubling," said Aldrich Aimes, spokesman for the UIT Intelligence Service and the main contact agent between UIT Security and the Vipers. "If CLM and SYN decide to invade UIT space, I'm afraid we're ill equipped to repel them."
Indeed, CNN Analysts tell us that the Vipers depleted numbers and the UIT Strike Force's untrained pilots could spell disaster for Dau.
"There simply aren't enough well trained pilots in the Union," claims independent analyst J.P. Morgan. "The major players in UIT politics, such as The Guild of Free Traders, simply don't have the combat ability to fight off the increasingly large and increasingly hostile pirate factions! Honestly! They're traders! TRADERS! They can't fight anything but a price drop on canned goods."
Another man had this to say: "It's Blak! [The now disbanded Black Lance Guild -ed.] Has to be. They're like 50-armed puppeteers, pulling their strings all over the galaxy, steering every one of us toward their own devious end game!"
CLM spokesman Impavid (formally known as Tumblemonster) declined to comment on the incident, saying only, "no comment."

hmmm and here i thought clm just wanted cargoes and syn liked to pull strings...
They moved to Dau because of us, probably. We own any sector at our whim, for reasons I can't explain, and yesterday it was Sedina B-8.

Nice to see the new Serco guild has parted ways with state sponsored, propaganda riddled reporting...
Worse than the bloody UIT. B8 is for whomever wants it. Tis a silly place.
Your "whim" may prove to be your undoing young ones.

I've long said that pirates shouldn't try to hold territory, their's no use, traders can go around a sector if it's that dangerous. It's much better when they don't know where or when you will show up.
B8 as far as I'm concerned is an arena, yea it's close to some good stations for having fur balls, long as you don't expect to actually get anything from it.
As far as why the shift to UIT space, I happened to be up there and noticed a few traders that might be bilkable so I sent out word. A furball in B8 is good fun, but it really isn't piracy, group combat practice at best. A bunch of relatively unprotected traders, that's a prime piracy target.
Does this mean I don't want to get involved in anymore B8 rumbles, Hell no, it's a good time, but if I think theirs loot to be had, I'd prefer to go on the hunt.
