This event will take place on Sunday, January 18. (The same day as a Nation War, but not at the same time.)
Ground rules:
* Three teams: one for Serco, one for Itani, one for UIT.
* If you are KOS with your own nation, you qualify to be on any of the teams. Otherwise, you can only be on the team of your own nation.
* No more than four players per team.
* No ships or equipment that require high Nation standing. (No Prom, no Valk, no UIT-variant Marauder, no Serco Vulture, no Itani Centurion, no Warthog TD) Corporation special weapons and ships are allowed.
* No ships or equipment that require a badge or mission tree are allowed. (No Hunter Bus, no Ultracharge, no Megapositron, &c. This also means no Corvus Superlight.)
* Swarms and lightning mines are allowed. Be on the lookout.
* When you die (or jump out), you're dead. No reincarnation allowed. (You also may not come back to the combat zone to spectate.)
* If a team or player is late, that team or player is disqualified. (You're already in the area for the Nation War, right?)
* Any shenanigans result in the immediate disqualification of the entire team.
Procedure:
* At the end of the Nation War (which will likely be around 2130 GMT), a team leader should be selected for each Nation. (Ideally, this would be one predetermined pilot from ONE, one from Itan, and one from UPK, to make it "official.")
* This team leader is in charge of recruiting no more than three other players for their team, subject to the rules above.
* Before 2200, all three teams should be fully recruited, grouped, and waiting in the designated locations in the Sedina system. (Only the team leaders will know what these locations are.)
* At 2200 exactly, all pilots will jump into the designated combat zone. (Again, only the team leaders will know what it is.) This signals the start of the event. If you're late, you're out.
Prizes:
* Regardless of win or loss, all non-disqualified players will receive 100,000 credits for participating.
* When only one team is left, that team selects a surviving player to receive all the prize money, to distribute as he or she sees fit.
* The prize is currently 20,000,000 (twenty million) credits, but may go up before the event. Sponsorship welcome. This number does not include the 100k participation bonus.
And now, a meta-rule:
* No rules will be changed, added, or removed after 0000 GMT on Saturday, January 17.
Suggestions welcome.

Looks alot like the original Nation War rules when I first made it. It was changed because it was overly complex and a bit difficult to time, hence dropping the jumping in from different sectors.
The timing may also make it a bit hectic to set up, especially since all events typically get delayed starts.

Too many restrictions and rules Solra.
Why not just make it a free-for-all or teams buswar at Sedina D-14?
Buswars can last indefinitely and are usually good fun.
Like this you have at least 1 hour of preparations and 2 min. of fighting.

sorry Solra, its just too crazy for me :\
too many rules and restrictions. no nation ships? swarms? swarms alone will make the lag ridiculous. you are limiting the amount of players? you have to pay to play? are you going to figure out where each nation should start on the fly?
it's just to crazy for me.
however, dont give up. Revamp a little bit.

Those of you who want a rule-free furball are welcome to not attend.
> you have to pay to play?
You do? That's news to me... Reading the rules, it looks to me like you get paid 100k to play...
> are you going to figure out where each nation should start on the fly?
No, I already have the location scoped out and in my head. I'm not revealing it in public so as to avoid event crashing.

why no rev c but the CV tung maud/ all other subfaction ships are allowed?
> why no rev c but the CV tung maud/ all other subfaction ships are allowed?
Because I personally dislike fighting them.
If enough people object to that requirement, I'll begrudgingly withdraw that rule, or reword it to only exclude the Superlight.

As much as it's appreciated that you are willing to run an event, an event, in the end, is for the participants, not the guy running it. All sides should have fun, but you may not see a lot of participation if you clamp it down to what you alone like and dislike.
I've put together a UIT team for this event.
Unfortunately, I cannot attend this event myself, so I've made Breazle team captain in my place. Here are the UIT team members:
Breazle (Team Captain)
Ecka Estenk
John Eldritch
Mick
UIT will be frighteningly powerful in this event. I wish a good Nation Arena to everyone else as well, good luck all!

Well, I hope the UIT team suffers an agonizing defeat!
I won't be able to participate due to my usual Sunday commitments, but I concur with Pointsman. }:D
Hope is all you'll get!
I hope.

I'm not running this event to please the maximum number of people possible. I'm running this event out of a purely selfish desire to have a more-or-less fair mid-scale group fight with many skilled pilots.

Well, disallowing ships based solely on your dislike kinda conflicts with the fair part :)
Perhaps just disallow *all* faction ships regardless of model. That way it's blanket, it's not expensive for lower-level players who might want to play, and you get rid of the prom/valkjock issue that I noticed was rampant in the NW when I was trying to participate in them regularly over the summer. I don't know if that's still the case now, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it was.
You can't really have a "more or less fair" fight when people are allowed to use Proms or Valks.

@MSKanaka: Yes almost everyone on the NW team yesterday had proms :)
I don't think this is fore new players though. Just 4 vets from each nation.
@Solra will you allow a pirate faction if they are hated by their nation?

Rule retracted. (Not because I've been convinced, but because a lot of complaints are coming my way.) I still hope I don't see any death pencils, I'll think less of any pilot who brings one.

Believe me, I know. (One of two reasons that Nation ships are barred.)
> will you allow a pirate faction if they are hated by their nation?
If they actually manage to assemble a team, and let me know in time to change the rules.

I'm not a pirate, i was just wondering. They could probably get a team together though.
Just to clarify, when I say "faction" I include corporations. If I meant just Itani/Serco/UIT I'd say "nation" instead. That would include anything and everything ranging from the IBG to the Aeolus Light Behemoth (though why anyone would use a moth of any sort in a battle like this is beyond me).
A player is putting forward an event they have devised, with characteristics they have decided on beforehand. *Astoundingly*, they've based this on what they think is fun and enjoyable. Is that really unreasonable?
If people participate and it's no fun, then it can be changed or abandoned, I guess.
Honestly, the relentless bitching/moaning/hand-wringing/trolling about every possible interesting development *ROBS* this game and its community, it really does.
