A good NW tonight. UIT engaged Serco from the off. Good flying all round, a furious fight and an exciting chase through the cracked 'roid, but those scps did a lot of damage. The Itani team held on well , and came through for a good win.

What the 2 Itani won? What happened?

Probably the same thing that happens every time the Itani are few: they run around the outside and people don't bother with them because you can't chase a goddamn X-1 for crap. And then everyone else gets damaged by fighting, and they do hit and run with the survivors. It's a very effective strategy, because currently there is no really effective way to counter a boosting X-1 that doesn't want to be caught. Makes for a lot of really lame NW chasing...

Nah, thats not really what happened. Actually, both UIT and Serco forgot about those 2 lonely itani and killed each other. In the end only sheffield, F&M, Black Radar and Pasquel were left, and after they dealt with sheffield Pasq was easily overcome ;)

Not to rain on your parade, Denji, but I've been in a Centurion every single Nation War I've fought in for about a year, and I somehow still survive against seemingly impossible odds quite often (I can't speak for this Nation War, however, as I wasn't there. I wouldn't be surprised if Black Radar ran the entire time though).

Oh, it's not just about the valks. The last time I was at a NW with a very very low Itani turnout (or maybe the time before that, but no matter) the blue team ran and hid in the asteroids after the first minute and stayed there until almost everyone else was dead or dying. Granted, people should have tried to engage them, but that's where the valks come in. Most of the blue team is in valks, and most of them run about like ninnies, being impossible to catch. So anyone who tried to go get them would probably have been faced either with 4 valks in their face, if they came alone, or the rapidly disappearing backs of valks, if not.

As I said in my first post, it's an effective strategy, and there's nothing fundamentally wrong with it. But if y'all want to lose the stereotype that the Itani are a bunch of runners, you're sure as hell going about it the wrong way....

EDIT: To clarify, I did once win a NW in a prom. The vast majority of my NW appearances are in lights, because that's what I fly. I've even fought in wars in a valk before. In all of those wars, I never flew around the sector like a ninny trying to get people to chase me. Granted, I'm really bad at it, but I kinda consider that a good thing.

For shits & giggles, if you guys don't like the Itani tactics, show up in X-1's of your own and do the same thing to them. The lack of engagement will be funny as Hell.

My Nation War strategy is to find the people who use that strategy, usually sneaky UIT or Itani, and chase em down. Just as long as you keep close to those runners, you can get a few shots on em while they're trying to pick off people with low health. This tends to even the odds and keep you safe, though I'd hate to see the Nation War becoming a game of chasing each other in circles around the sector, we already have the Deneb Run and Tube Races! For that, I gotta commend the Serco for once lol.
