I think you are hitting very close to the mark diqrtvpe. You are certainly correct that as my second post to this thread indicates, it was the manner of delivery. Perhaps ShankTank did not intend his first message to be taken the way I interpreted it, and I regret that I may have over reacted as his subsequent posts have been interesting and well made.
If the pirates don't want to be bound by any rules, I have no personal objection so long as they engage the conversation rather than telling me effectively 'this is the way its going to be'. I can certainly understand why both pirates and defenders would not want to be bound to a one life rule. Its certainly easier for a pirate or defender to re-engage the action than it is for a trader. However, maybe we want to making it a multi- run thing. How much can you move safely in an hour or something. I am no event leader. Some of the comments about how other events were run were informative and useful. That is the kind of discussion I am looking for. Not ranting over suggestions I listed to get the conversation started. What I'd ideally like to see is something that people invested their time and ideas in to make successful. My concept alone is at best flawed, and at worst uninteresting to the rest of VO.
That said, I apologize to ShankTank for overreacting to his post. And I apologize to VO for getting my panties in a twist. It sounds like there is good interest, so I'm game. Like I said, I would not be able to do the event until early November and I'd like to use the time leading up to it to work out a structure that is enjoyable to everyone.
And Lecter, you One Toned Wonder Boy, as I have argued many times and will continue to argue, unless the reward is worth the risk and effort involved, manipulating the game mechanics isn't going to change the game to that ideal.
Landron, you are far more interesting and intelligent on your other account.

What else do you want to hear from me? I'm not having a conversation with you, I'm just doing you the courtsey of making my intentions known.
If I see traders in Greyspace, or really in any space, I'm going to do whatever I feel like doing. That's usually shooting them. That's how I'm going to be; how "its going to be" is up to everyone else.

Luckily for me, I can usually count on you not being in game.
I'm not a pirate but if I am online during the event I will probably fire rockets blindly into the convoy just because I can't resist being disruptive
Out of curiosity, which is my other account? If I have multiple ones, I'd like to know about it, so that I can log in to the other as well. Hell, I might use it as a trolling account or something.
If you hit a brick wall at 100 miles per hour you will die. this is the way it is. you don't have to like it.
pirates will be the way pirates are. you don't have to like it. it isn't lecter's fault for pointing this out. get over yourself. if you are not going to hold an event if you don't get your way, don't hold it.
