Division: if you can't chase your opponent, and he can run away whenever he gets hurt, and whenever he comes back he's at full health, your team is going to lose. I agree that strong organization can win the day in many cases (I have been the driving element behind the organization of some very strongly winning Serco teams), but that falls apart after awhile of getting beaten down by an opponent who regenerates. However much your team guards each others' backs, some shots are going to get through, and you are losing a war of attrition. If you can hold out long enough that your opponent runs out of reps, you have a chance, but there are some damn good pilots in valks out there, and that's a lot of reps to get through.

That about covers it. Honestly, I think a standard, non-nation specific set of hulls, weapons, and power cells should be debated, selected, and declared required gear for this thing. That might produce some much more interesting combat.

Personally, I have to agree with Lecter. It's already done for the ultimate wingman tourney, why not for NW?
I am waiting for a few more people to voice this sentiment. Ships are the only thing I'm interested in restricting, though. I am more than willing to help equip pilots for NW (and in general) if they ask for stuff in a timely fashion.
Banning Proms and Valks would probably take care of most of the issues. SVG and IBG are both fairly balanced, ditto for the CV. I'd say ban the Hound and Hog Mk II as well, since they're really only picked for the infinboost.
Except, why shouldn't both teams have repair people?
Really, shouldn't there be more changing of tactics if the current one is winning a lot? It's already there with everyone flying valks, but I think it is still lacking in the organizational aspects from what I saw in the last few NW I was able to be in.
I don't think stricter weapon bans will change a whole lot. More imagination would, though.

I'm actually fine with how it is now. The only times grey has failed to win was when the UIT and Itani NAPed and didn't fight each other at all. In a Nation War where all the sides respect the spirit of the event, the best pilots or the largest group with the best pilots wins regardless of the setup.
Repair modules will not be forbidden. But I'm pessimistic that tactics and organization can counter the cloud of regenerating wasps. Unless more people chime in here against the valk, though, we will be putting my pessimism to the test.
While we are on the subject of weapons bans, though, are lmines and swarms still causing excessive hurt to some people's clients?

They used to a long time ago, but it seems that issue has been fixed (damage flash intensity for the l-mines and effects changes for the swarms). If you ask me, I think that they are valid tactical assets. In normal world player skirmishes (of which I am a veteran) swarms and l-mines are considered support weapons and the users of them usually get eaten up within the first few seconds if there is insufficient cover.
Especially considering the fact that you can't reload or come back in a NW (what gives support weapons like this a larger advantage in world skirmishes) there is no gameplay or tactical-related issue to ban swarms and l-mines. You might as well ban gatling turrets at that rate.
