So yeah, Vipers are griefers (Only since strats fanaticism infected and ruined the Viper Guild). This particular "game-mechanic" fix had been coming for a long while, and Ray can confirm I reported it as well as created a support ticket. It wasn't a priority, which I understood. It only became a priority when you started bitching, as I knew you would. What you don't know is that the fix the devs implemented didn't fix the particular method I was using and had reported, and it remains available.
What I find disturbing is that you somehow feel your actions griefing me, after I had obviously and honorably given up piracy for the week as per my wager(ironically won by a Viper!), are justified.
So yes, Vipers are griefers.

Posts are being deleted lol
Ach. You guys are making me work tonight!
My Apologies to Tourias. I was going to delete the whole thread, review it "offline" for a minute, and then move it. Unfortunately I deleted just his reply ("Game mechanic?"). Individual posts go to a bad place where I cannot recover them. It was an error and was not a commentary on his post. Sorry man.
/edit: oo he's fast!

I actually never reported your cheating. I've never felt I had to report any player's actions to the devs, ever. Looking through the old threads, it looks like it was maybe someone from PA who reported it. Anyway, if a Viper ever intentionally logged out to avoid being destroyed, or deliberately cheated in any way, they would immediately be booted from the guild. The Vipers are here to play the game and have fun, not cheat.
I feel for you, Whistler. Normally, I ignore threads like these, but I'm in a playful mood today!

Have fun by griefing other players.
im confused. your saying the vprs griefed you by trying to attack you when you were trading but they didnot even get to kill you because you kept loging out? dont you kill people when they are trading all the time? and werent you trying to say that you werent griefers? so your allowed to attack anyone and are not a griefer but other people are only allowed to attack you when you want to fight or else there griefers? are you stupid? does anyone else here this? hahahaha.
Well mostly you're wrong. Here is the whole sordid tale:
I made a public wager that if any viper could beat me in energy only combat I would become a trader for a week. After several fruitless battles, a single Viper managed to defeat me. I honored my wager and began trading. The Vipers, led by Strat the evangelical anti-pirate, saw this as an opportunity to punish me and griefed me relentlessly. I defended myself when necessary but did not pirate a single player. I never cheated or exploited a bug in the game. I did however log out on several occasions while the Vipers, led by the aforementioned Zealot Strat, were trying to pirate my Moth. They claim I am KOS as a pirate so they can attack me no matter what, but fact is they agreed to the wager I made and expected me to hold up my end of it, which I did. They mistakenly thought that they did not have to hold up their end of the wager and felt they could grief me mercilessly while I was a trader for a week. This was their mistake and unfortunately for them I have a greater knowledge of combat, evasion and game mechanics than they have. I resorted to FORCING them to abide by their wager by logging out when they attacked me. They of course complained and forced the development team to devote time and resources to fixing a problem that didn't exist.
So rok, to answer your uninformed stupid opinion: No, what you wrote is entirely not what happened, but feel free to repeat it, because lying seems to be working for the lot of you, why stop now?

What Impavid says is absolutely correct. In fact his attempted assault on my trade ship during this period was correctly defined as 'defending the trade lanes'.
Every game should have their own professional victim :p

Sigh. This is getting silly now. You want people to believe that VPR entered into some sort of agreement with you, where if we could beat you in combat we would leave you alone to trade in peace for a week? You will not find a post, chat log, email, or paper note that says, implies, or even hints at the notion that we agreed to not attack you. I know that you won't find such a thing because no Viper said it.
You posted your challenge on the forum, to which no Viper replied. The day of or after the initial challenge (that you expected no Viper to win), you fought Teirl and Jenn Danthar in all-energy fights. Jenn Danthar defeated you. Therefore, you agreed to trade for a week. We agreed to nothing. We simply fought a pirate, the same as we do every day.
The Vipers have always been allowed to attack known pirates while they were in moths or trading. This has always been the case, and we certainly weren't going to make any exception for you. If a Viper spotted Maalik, Vskye, or Blood Thirsty trading in a moth, the Viper would attack them as well. It's our policy. You may not like it or agree with it, but it's the way it is. Everyone else doesn't get to trade in safety, why should the pirates?
Also, we never even killed you. We never had the chance. Every time we approached you, you logged out onto your other character. I would guess that I personally witnessed you do this around a dozen times that week. You seemed to disappear exceptionally fast and based on your own quote, it looks like you found some bug or trick to do it faster than the normal timer allowed.
What you don't know is that the fix the devs implemented didn't fix the particular method I was using and had reported, and it remains available.
Even if you did use the normal method (which I admit is possible since Vipers aren't very good at attacking trade ships), I still believe it to be an exploit, and so did the devs, apparently. The devs issued an update to prevent people from logging out in mid-space so easily around a week later. Since it wasn't The Vipers who informed the devs of what you were doing, I can only assume that you logged out to avoid being attacked by other players as well.
So our "griefing" consisted of us attempting to destroy you, which we failed at every time. You never died (as far as I know), and not for lack of trying on our part.

The devs changed the timer to placate your whining. There was never a bug which I said at the start of this thread, why do you keep repeating that there is?
Keep spreading your lies.

If something was 'not fixed' one has to assume it was broken (else, why fix it?), ie. that it was(is?) indeed a bug.

I should have used the word "changed" rather than "fix". To quote Raybondo with regards to the feature I reported: "That's how it is supposed to work"
I'll take on anyone in energy-only combat. That's the most fun in the universe. And to THINK I could join [VPR] and only have to defeat tumble once a week to make him a PERMANENT TRADER!
Oh, that would be rather funny.
