NW #225

Nation War

We had a fun little NW today. There was lots of fighting and not a lot of running. Itani won. Grats to them.

Some people didn't think that being overpowered was a good reason to ban Valkyries and chose not to attend. The provisional ban will continue for at least one more NW.

Participants must be on their nation's team unless they can make a claim to be unaligned in which case they may choose to fight for Grey.
Valkyries, Teller-Ulam mines, and pet bots are not allowed.
You may not start fighting until the host signals the start of the battle.
You may not return to the battle sector after you have left except to observe from a healthy distance in a bus.
No running from the asteroid field.
The last team standing wins.

Blegh, missed it again D:

How did the Valk thing work out?

Some people chose not to show up, and grey lost. Both can be attributed to the lack of Valkyries. :p

Naturally, slime is one of those people who are fairly upset about this trial ban.

I thought the pace of the fight was faster without any valks, which maybe makes teamwork more important. It's hard to say after one short test.

I didn't take part. I'd never brought a valk to the NW, but i don't like that sort of rules...
I don't think valks overpower svgs and I don't like whiners

I don't think valks overpower svgs

There are plenty of arguments against banning valks, but that's just a retarded statement on its face.

A CorVult or SVG pilot can annihilate a Valkyrie pilot, if the Vult pilot knows what they're doing.
Aug 02, 2010 Maalik link
A vult3 or hog2 can annihilate a Valkyrie pilot, if they stock ship pilot knows what they are doing. I know because I've done it! Granted that I was a better pilot then, but the Valkyrie pilots were no slouches.

I'm saddened that not everyone shares my curiosity to see how the event will work without what has grown to become its most dominant ship. But so it goes.

And a free bus can kill an SCP, if the prom pilot is a total moron. What's yer point?
Aug 02, 2010 tarenty link
:d Most of the people flying Valks aren't total morons. The Valk isn't uber, just powerful.
Aug 02, 2010 Spedy link
I had quite a bit of fun this NW. I think no valks was an improvement, because like Maalik said in the original post there was a lot less of that running-around-forever stuff.

My point was that tarenty's point was silly.

You, of course, being an exception.

I agree with you on testing the NW without Valks, Maalik. I'll be there next week, I couldn't come this week because (shocker) I have a life and needed to attend to it. ;)
Aug 03, 2010 Willis link
lol lecter. I wish I could have been there for this, my work schedule will prevent me from attending next week. I would really like to see how this new rule affects the NW.
Aug 03, 2010 Niki link
I flew my vult the same as i would fly in a valk, however i didn't have to chase as many other ships (valks!) down. but that's actually not an improvement, because chasing is awesome.
the reduced power of the 'now non-valk flying players' was noticeable though... :P
