So, thespian, how did option 2 work for you? Your guild failed quite quickly, and ecka, this so called 'bad' commander, has had a successful and frickin filthy rich guild for longer than you've played... I don't get how you can talk trash and feel good about yourself. You don't even play anymore.
It failed, quite miserably. But, do realize, it was mostly experimental. And, I got the guild off to a good start, and I found the problems that occurred in due time. When I realized the guild wouldn't prosper, I shut it down immediately. That's why it went in and out so quickly.
Ecka is not necessarily a good commander. TGFT just has resources and a few good leaders who have kept the guild together.
Also, try to think impartially, as if you were a newb just beginning to play, about this:
Itani and Serco, both whom have wars to fight, are fighting over stations for power. TGFT tells them both that they need it more, because they don't have enough billions of credits, and basically tells them both to screw themselves. Itani get pissed at that, understandably. And Serco, because they nearly gone and playerless, decide to join TGFT. That's understandable, too. But, the only thing that ISN't whatsoever comprehendible, is that TGFT is so power-hungry, and decides that it is the most important of the 3.
Quite honestly, just because a guild has prospered for long, does not mean it is 1) respected 2)worth anything in the VO universe 3) better than everyone else.

You obviously are not a UIT.
TGFT! My favorite pyramid scheme evar! Ok so, lots of cash, yeah, but I had more. Lot's of people, yeah, because pyramid schemes attract the weak, and there are a lot of weak people out there.
Exploits. The ONLY accomplishment TGFT legitimately has. TGFT has successfully used more exploits than any single player or group since the inception of VO. And I should know about exploits, I found most of them.
