The 305th Nation War was held today at 2100 GMT in Sedina D-2. The participating teams were Itani, Serco, and UIT. All weapons and ships were allowed.

Today's Nation War begun hot from the start. The Serco came in full force with their Promethean phalanx and the Itani brought our their juggernaut, the Trident Type M piloted by Ipslet. Both sides were eager for each others death in a hail of energy bolts and flares. The two sides pounded each other for what seemed an eternity while the ragtag group of UIT couldn't do much but dodge and weave in and out of the Itani and Serco's titanic struggle for victory. Midway through the battle the Trident deployed its infamous Teller Ulam Mine with a spectacular effect. Pity goes toward the pilot(s) that were caught within its blast.

As the numbers of fighters began to spread thin across the sector, the Serco's Prometheans were proving to be the better gear in this battle. Surprisingly, the final blow dealt to the Itani Trident was from the UIT member Silenzio and then the Serco followed up with a clean sector sweep of all foes. Congratulations to the Serco team, withstanding their foes like waves upon stone.

On a related note,is it really significant to point out # of wins when the grey team is not allowed every week?

After going over the wins... with Grey included... they don't match up to the current Nation War number... so as far as the wins go... they seem wrong... or the Nation War number is wrong...

I was and will likely continue to compile the past Nation War winner count from previously posted Nation War results, as boring as that will be...

As for matters that walk the line of Grey team, those that care to voice opinion on such matters should do so.

I noticed that the numbers did not match when I was hosting as well... I figured that after 300 of them it was probably just some bad record keeping from long ago, and there were some weeks where no one kept track of results.

On that note, It's completely stupid that grey teams are not put on every week. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Either you acknowledge that grey is legitimate option for those who choose not to be affiliated with any nation, or you decide nation wars is a nationalist-only competition. Having a half-assed "on again, off again" approach is frankly just dumb.

@TheRedSpy-He could just take the total nationalist approach and just not have a grey team... It's been done before, I think the current system is a good compromise.

That being said here is my video of NW, this was really an experiment and I forgot to change my PDA so I had to block those parts. And I was streaming Pandora and it was recorded as well, but beside the one commercial it picked some decent fighting songs, and the music was almost perfect for when I boomed.
I just wanted to see how this would turn out in a 4:5 aspect ratio (I use it for my main monitor), and see how the quality would end up on youtube, I can see some interlacing issues, so I'll work on that some more before taking on the project I want to use this for.
Oh and the software I used blacked out my client, I was in game and in control but could not see anything, so by the time I got it fixed I had drifted away from the fight. And flew back in. I apologize if someone had an issue with that.
Oh again... I know I flew poor support for a trident, I forgot to disable TCS so I never really knew what was happening, I'm just grateful I missed the nuke.

If that's the approach you want to take then please do it. I don't have a problem with either having or not having a grey team but we rock up one week and its not on, then we can't make it for the week it is. If nation wars is an event that we greyspacers should just ignore, then we simply will.

Greyspace IS a nation, it has a set of factions just like the UIT, it has a capital system and a capital station and defined territory. Only difference is you can't pick it on the startup scrren, but all the other salient features are there. We know there is a potential plan to have grey chat names because of momerath's GS test guild, so what's wrong with being a little progressive and putting it into nation wars.

The Union of Independent Territories is a loosely knit union of corporations, merchants and explorers clinging to life in deep space. They are widely revered as innovators, as life without a homeworld has called for truly unique advances in space station and ship construction technology. However, this societal structure has also made UIT space a haven for pirates, unscrupulus merchants, and the results of autonomous technological experiments gone awry. Like the Itani, the UIT has occasionally fallen under the ill graces of the Serco. However, many UIT merchants have highly advantageous trade agreements with the Serco government, so past affronts are often overlooked.

UIT is not a nation... and according to the backstory, this should actually be the current haven for pirates.

Some aspects to be considered related to entities involved with this 'debate':

---Definition of nation.
---Similarities and differences between Itani, Serco, UIT, and Grey in reference to the definition of nation.
---Practicality and convenience of 'Nation War' event organization with 3 clearly color defined entities and 1 multicolored entity, and techniques to help organize.
---Event name in reference with all above aspects stated.

Grey is not a nation. We are the anti-nation. We reject all bonds and affiliations, and play by our own personal rules. We are united only in our rejection of unity. We are the slice of the pie labeled "Other".

Identifiable and significant segment of the universe's population? Yes. Nation? No.

Whats the issue? shoot everyone but the white dots in your groups is what its always been.

It's a player organised event, therefore we set the rules. Bugger all this nation crap, how 'bout we do what's fun, having an unaligned team is fun.

Many of us prefer the 3 way nation war and that's why it happens this way and since it is player driven whoever is running it can do whatever they want and not really have to care or listen to complaints

Enjoy the compromise that was made so everyone gets what they want or keep whining about it like a little kid

Group sizes are limited by 8 and there have been team sizes far greater than 8.

[EDIT] And furthermore, I'll keep hosting as it has been hosted for the purpose of past compromises and will not change those compromises until the game, VO, changes in such a way that you can color your name grey/magenta/hot pink/whatever tickles your fancy or a more worthwhile player concocted solution is brought forth and reasonably accepted by the player-base that cares about these squabbles.

As long as it is reasonably simple to organize and gather data for this event I am willing to host said event.

Okay, after going over just a portion of past Nation War records, or rather the lack of... I'm just gonna chalk that up some zero-g station fire run rampant... and write it off as a total loss.

In keeping to my reputation, for whatever that is worth, I would like to host a Nation War marathon in good time that is Soon(TM) to make-up for the missing winnings. This is to be in addition to the normal Nation War event. The marathon will use the same rules, be done in a successive manner with possibly more than one event in a day, all teams are welcomed (Grey, Itani, Serco, & UIT), and with a minimum prize of 2mil credits.

Anyone like this idea?
