Rules

If you die or leave the sector, you're out.
You may return to observe in an EC-89, but must not interfere.
You must fight for your own nation. If you don't identify with any nation, you must fight for the nation the game says you are, regardless of standing or guild affiliation.
No fighting in-sector prior to the host's announcing the start of the event.
No capships unless every team intends to bring one.

A nation war of seven... pathetic. One wonders if idiotic rules and completely excluding a Gray team might have something to do with it?

Ryan, at this point it's just alll bs anyways.

We need to get the Nation Wars going again with a fun for all aspect, along with Deneb run. No bs rules and such. Fucking carebears.

The Nation War has always had rules, and they've been pretty similar to these. Other rules that have existed in various Nation Wars, but not recent ones include:

* No excessive running (determined by the host)
* No Valkyries
* No swarms, lightning mines or Biocom mines
* No pet bots

Grey is not a nation. There are three nations. If you don't like it, then make your own NW.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the prize was donated by VPR and FAMY?

Just sayin'.....
Sep 22, 2013 Phaserlight link
Yeah, that was pretty ironic and last-minute. However, the donation was made in good faith; who was I to deny it?

If someone wants to organize the NW again, I'm all for it: be aware that it can be a lot of work (writing aliases, coming up with reasonable rules that result in a "fun" event, finding donors for the prize or trading up the amount, writing up the event in the Coming Events system and on the forums, editing the vid capture etc.) My better half and I have a little one on the way, so I definitely don't have the leisure to spend the time it would take to earn the type of prize that would attract a good sized crowd. Hosting also takes a period of undivided concentration that could be used to hang out at the beach, or work on my MBA... so, there definitely is an opportunity cost factor at play here.

If someone thinks they could do a better job and wants to step up, I'll definitely show my support by attending the event if at all possible. Nation War is one of those things that is a long-standing tradition and sets VO apart from all those other MMOs in my mind. I'd highly recommend making use of the Event Submission form, but of course that's up to whoever decides to host the event.

I'll probably be around most weekends again, so I can do it again if nobody else wants to. Of course, I don't have any claim to the event; I just started hosting it this spring because nobody else was doing it and I wanted the event to exist again.

If you host an event, you are free to make the rules for the event, and everyone in game is free to completely ignore those rules.

I do not care if you host a triad nation war, in nation space. but if you hold your event in grey, you may wish to include those who may impact activities in grey.

I, at all times, reserve the right, to express my opinion, on any matter concerning grey, in game, by standard game mechanics (neutrons).
