The other day as Mrs A cleaned and groomed my carapace I started thinking about what strange and wonderful species inhabit the VO verse. Pup is obviously some sort of wolf relative or perhaps a human bitten by a wolf. Westacular I've often thought must be a protist as he is capable of reproducing by binary fission and there's not a lot of evidence for a central nervous system or brainstem. What else is out there?

Humans, bio-mechanically enhanced humans, and pup is a serco experiment that managed to escape.

Rin maintains that asteroids are actually large amoeba-like creatures, and therefor even the gentlest mining is animal abuse on par with shooting a de-calcifying-beam at stray dogs. The asteroids may be very slothful, but if the abuse continues much longer they're liable to rebel and destroy humanity.

There's also the Hive. I guess there could be a debate about whether or not they are computers flying a ship or whether they *are* their ships.

There is only Hive. We are all deluded into thinking we are living beings. What other living beings can re-spawn with such ease? Clearly, it is nothing more than data, downloaded into a fresh "body"...
