Below is one of a few reasons the devs recently buffed the training sector defense. :-D

So before the training defenses buff, a Trident could easily drop in and turbo out of range and only lose about 50% of hull. Also there we no SF squads that came. After the buff there are SF squads every couple minutes AND the beam cannons deal about 100k damage per shot. So a Trident lives for about 4 seconds, or just long enough for me to type some profanity in guild chat about my demise. BUT, if you're lucky you can get a favorable jump in vector in the correct instance or sumsuch like I did recently from Sol II I-4 to Sol II A-11, which put me well out of range of the station defenses. Of course I still had to fight off the SF squads that came every few minutes.

Even though it was kinda pointless cause you could never hurt players in that sector due to some magical protection bullshit.

The training sector magical protection is the only place I feel it is warranted (and fun). I ran an alt through training again last night, and had a little fun shooting another newbie, then watching as he tried in vain to retaliate. I lolled a little, I admit ;)

sirfrapsalot, yeah I have a UIT guy in training that has helio miner badges because that huge station roid is about 40% helio :-D
