Nation Wars #432
Vendetta-OnAir (VOA), is proud to bring you Nation Wars #432 this January 31st.
*** The TIME will be 19:00 /time in game ***
All citizens are welcome to participate, there is no entrance fee, exact Prize Amount is to be determined and depends on donations (Will be at least 10 Million Credits!). Some of it could be yours!
The Basic Rules are as follows:
1.) Only those who are on-time are allowed to participate.
2.) Participants must be on their nation's team unless they can make a claim to be unaligned in which case they may choose to fight for Grey if Grey team is allowed that week.
3.) You may not start fighting until the host signals the start of the battle - this includes the 15 minute period prior to the planned starting time.
4.) You may not return to the battle sector after you have left except to observe from a healthy distance in an EC-88 or EC-89.
5.) No running from the asteroid field.
6.) The last team standing wins.
This week all ships and Grey team are allowed.
Any guild or player is welcome to donate to the prize pot, and by doing so will earn mention during the event and in the results.

"This week all ships..."
I think we need to discuss and clarify some rules for tridents participation.
In previous years when tridents were allowed to participate in NW usually player was not allowed to leave his trident.
Recently we had some NWs where players were hopping in/out and even changing ships and load outs.
Can we set a firm set of rules regarding tridents participating in NW so that everyone knows what is actually allowed or not?

I am open to all suggestions to help the event function smoothly and be fun for all players involved. So feel free to discuss the topic and I will figure out a way to form that into a general consensus.
I won't put anything in place for this coming week in hopes that it can balance it'self out somewhat, but will take all input into planning future events.

OK then let me open the discussion - I propose we stick to the old rule:
Trident captain is not allowed to leave his ship. It counts as one player/one ship participating in the event.
I think it's quite enough that participating team members can rep and reload in trident and even man turrets.

+1 bojan, enter the dent, stay in the dent rar!
We should nerf Tridents. And Sieger. And all of Siegers weapons. And his mass hacks. Nerf it all.
What do we want!
NERFING!!
And why do we want it?
OUR BUTTS HURT!!

Obviously only one team with a trident is unfair in most situations. But also, obviously, nationwar is unfair ALWAYS. It's up to the host to determine the rules, even if they are unfair. If they are unfair, don't participate. Simple.
The only real way to snuff out all complainers is to balance the NW teams and make as even of a battle as possible. One idea is to evenly split all players in the sector into teams no greater than 8, with captains who choose their teammates elementary-school-playground-style. Tridents allowed only if each team can provide one.
But then some conservatives will complain and abstain because they protest NW not being nationalistic.
Host makes the rules. Good luck Lazy. :)

I would love to give the Team Wara go again, with the playground style team captains model Greenwall mentioned.
That way I can pretend to be butthurt when I get picked last

The host could also make it a rule that you get picked last. :P
+1 one player one ship.
I did like the Matched Group fights you once hosted after a Nation War, Greenwall. If you rename that into Team Wars, why not host it weekly as a separate event to Nation War?
I had been planning on doing that just had forgotten about it...thanks for the reminder.
I'll prolly do teams of 5 or 6 so that we can ideally have more teams in the mix
I think I'm gonna start it up this week as a matter of fact...

Try to get it on the calendar if you can Darth, I'll do my best ti attend, but the more headway I have in knowing when it is the easier it is for me to figure it out.
Hell yeah Darth, thanks for taking the initiative. I suggest Saturday, but its up to you. I will do my best to attend.
I want to have an event during the week though.
Saturday evening might not be a bad idea. We can see who has social lives and who does not.
Sorry, I'll stop commenting on it in the Nation War thread though. Gonna start a new thread for it as soon as I have time to get some proper rules set in place.

Serco managed to bring 4-5 pilots with tridents to the fight, showing their recent domination of power. Also interesting was the fact that all of the pilots who would have been eligible to be on Grey chose to be on the teams for their respective nations. I was on the Itani team and although the chances seemed slim, the Itani team pulled together their resolve and fought with all their skill. So although a loss in the end I enjoyed this weeks Nation Wars thoroughly, and with the fight lasting over 15 minutes had a great time.
The Prize Pot for the event consisted of 35,000,000 credits, thanks goes to GTE, PPT, and ORE for their donations. This allowed each victor to receive 7,000,000 credits. General Jack O'Neil disconnected right as the fight ended, and picked up his prize from VOA in Odia M-14 the next day.
