[TRI] Neutrality Policy

Aug 29, 2016 neon black link
Some clarity on what we expect from our members in [TRI] Trident Arms Syndicate:

"
What's up [TRI],

I'm here today to talk to everyone about the wonderful world of neutrality in VO! [TRI] as you all may or may not know, is the ONLY legitimately neutral guild in the 'verse as far as I know. But what does that mean exactly? "Neutrality" simply put, means that as a guild we have no official enemies or allies. This neutral stance allows us to manufacture and work throughout all systems in the universe without worrying about nationalist agendas or tiresome wars.

This neutral stance as a guild has taken years to develop, and walking this line is a delicate undertaking. As members of [TRI] we have all agreed to refrain from any nationalism ("Capture the Cargo" and Deneb War missions), station conquering/defending, or any unwarranted acts of agression (piracy, head-hunting, ganking). This is the very basic principle and truly the only real "rule" for being in [TRI]. But in order for the guild to keep it's neutral stance in the eyes of all the other guilds in the 'verse, we must be vigilant in upholding the quiet and reserved nature that [TRI] as a guild has portrayed over the last four years.

As with any guild or nation or organization of people, the actions of one person speaks for the group as a whole. In Vendetta Online, it is especially important for us to choose our confrontations (and our words) very carefully. A single pilot with a [TRI] tag can make big problems for the entire guild just by attacking someone or saying the wrong thing on a chat channel. I want to offer some specific guidelines that can help members keep the peace and avoid unnecessary complications for themselves and the rest of the guild.

1) Station Conquering
[TRI] does not participate in the conquering or defending of any of the greyspace conquerable stations. Period. We have friendships with all of the guilds who fight amongst themselves for control of said stations and they always are down to give out access keys to [TRI] members. If you see a conq station being attacked, just leave the area and let the fight happen without you.

2) Deneb & CtC
Don't even do it. If you like big PvE battles, fight against the Hive in skirmishes. If you like PvP fights, participate in Nation War or join the dance-party in greyspace. Fighting in Deneb or participating in CtC will put your name (and the name of your guild) on the statistics board on the VO website for everyone to see. Some people will jump on any opportunity to make an enemy out of you, so don't give them any reasons to justify an attack.

3) PvP (Fights, Nation War, etc.)
If there's one thing we [TRI] absolutely LOVE, it's PvP combat! It is my single favorite aspect of the game, and it is something our entire business is tailored to. That being said, combat is also the main concern and object of which most problems arise. The bottom line is this: If it is not a consentual fight, you are not defending yourself, or it is not a target sanctioned for annihilation by a [TRI] elite (Commander, Lieutenant, or Council), then just don't shoot at it. That being said, if you are under attack you are free to defend yourself. Just keep in mind that some people get super butthurt about being killed, and guilds will retaliate in full force if their members are killed without provocation. When it comes to PvP - think before you act.

4) Banter
On a similar note - THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK! Talking trash or verbalizing your anger on public channels can lead to really tiresome complications. At [TRI], our clandestine business style and delicate political stance requires that our members are reserved and respectful on the outside. By all means we can bitch and moan to each other all day about the people we despise, but when it comes to public chat (or even in private messages) we can't let our emotions show. All the gankers and trolls out there do it for the tears anyways so cursing and screaming about it to them is exactly what they are after. If you give them what they want, they will return for more. Have some respect for yourself and your guild and just keep the discussion within the guild...

I hope this is a helpful and insightful read for new and veteran members alike and I hope it sheds light on the fact that everything we do and say affects the rest of the guild, no matter how small the action. In [TRI] it is especially important that we can hold on to our calm image and neutral stance among the many loud and obnoxious guilds around us. [TRI] is the best guild in VO for many reasons - one of which being that we are a group of friends, not just business associates. So let us work together to meet the needs of the whole while having a blast individually!

Safe flights and long nights!

Well put neon, and agree with everything other than you guys being the only neutrals. I've been seeing EMS again as of late; you can make non-neutral arguments for just about every other known guild in VO other than you guys and EMS though

Neon Black is far from neutral, but the rest seem to do alright.

Says the expert in neutrality...typical blueberry....

Omg! He's the bluberry pirate dirty ore had in the story!
Aug 29, 2016 Space Pancakes link
VOID has actually stopped referring to themselves as pirates lately as it was hurting their Alliance with TGFT and ITAN: They call themselves mercenary squids or some nonsense now....

Aug 29, 2016 DeathSpores link
'VPR,'ORE,'EMS,'TRI etc... are neutral too, they will shoot you no matter what your guild, your faction might be.
Aug 29, 2016 Space Pancakes link
Forgive that foolish oversight, odontologically inclined members of the 'verse. You are 100% correct.
Aug 29, 2016 greenwall link
VOID has never claimed to be simply pirates. Some guilds might no longer give any weight to their guild description (*coughs* SKV.... *coughs* ONE....), but VOID's description is apt and there for anyone who might be confused.

Now shuffle along go sell some more snake oil to newbs, Neanderthal.

The "O" stands for omnipotent correct?

Nothing screams omnipotence like going to war over some noob calling you names.

Heh, neanderthal...nice.

Nothing screams "family travel" like having your ship destroyed and your cargo stolen.
Aug 29, 2016 Space Pancakes link
We are Family owed, and our services come into play during times of travel.

Also, you clearly had different family road trips than Nith as a kid.

PS. If your ship is destroyed, your cargo becomes abandoned, and therefore is impossible to steal. If they really wanted it, they wouldn't leave it floating for any Tom, Nick, or Joe to come along and scoop it up.

I should edit the post further to state "...ACTIVE neutral guild..."

Perhaps still not entirely correct, but you get the idea. Thanks for the feedback.

I will be sure to point prospective members to this thread before recruiting in the future.

Excellent thread man!

I second everything that was said in the OP. Thanks for finally posting this. I like the idea of pointing newbs to this thread for some general guidelines on being in the guild.

Having said that, I also hope that this will serve as a guideline for everyone else in the 'verse to keep us honest. If anyone ever sees a [TRI] member behaving contrary to the OP, please bring it to the attention of someone else in [TRI]. Maybe even try talking to the individual in question about it, using this thread as a reference.

I've actually always wanted to make a post such as this one for these two reasons, but Neon Black is a much better orator then I. So I'm quite glad that he made this post.

Thanks to all for reading and thanks to Neon Black for making this thread.

HHTT has filed this post in our archives as a shinning example of neutrality, as well as the declaration of war that caused this posting as a stellar example of diplomatic resolution. We commend you TRI.

Actually, this post was made in August of 2015 (4445 VO year, right?) but has only been available on our guild forums. I figured it would be useful to have available publicly for new/prospective [TRI] members and also as a resource for all in understanding [TRI]'s principles and expectations.

In any case Herman - thanks for your comment! I look forward to watching [HHTT] grow and I wish you luck in your endeavor! Let us know if you have any questions at all or need help regarding the development of your new guild!

Safe flights and long nights from [TRI] Trident Arms Syndicate, your friendly neighborhood arms dealer!

I strongly agree with the core tenet of HHTT that the TGFT elites MUST be exterminated and extinguished from the existence of VO world.
