The NW that wasn't

So, I had a family event this weekend and missed NW, but heard about how it got messed up. To recap for those unaware (and correct me if I'm wrong):

A few weeks ago Misty hosted NW and greenwall felt slighted when she didn't pay him his winnings for killing his team leader while she was trying to pay people.

Wally vowed to never let her host again.

Yesterday, Misty tries to host again, and VOID says they will KoS anyone who attends and then goes and starts killing people before the event starts, forcing Misty to change locations, and then eventually cancel....

Now I'm not going to give my opinion on who is right and who is wrong here, as what I think doesn't matter nor am I unbiased.

However, may I suggest a solution for future nation wars that will make yesterday's temper tantrum impossible to repeat:

Each team should be in a different sector to start, the host announces the start via system chat and every team has 60 seconds to jump into the sector that the event is taking place. To get a head count, team leaders PM host the team list just prior to the 60second countdown. As soon as countdown STARTS firing is allowed.

Any thoughts?

What subtle attempt at throwing shit at us, Nithandreal.

Greenwall did indeed carry out his Vendetta on Mistena. I was at the NW sector along with my guildmate Hellcat to attend the event as I usually do when I have the time, not caring who is hosting etc. Greenwall also did not ask anyone of VOID to participate in his actions. All he did was carry out his personal vendetta. Neither I or Hellcat did anything unusual at the very start as we were planning... to attend that NW. I didn't feel urged to stop Greenwall anyhow. This game is called Vendetta Online and I've always respected personal Vendettas.

Suddenly some clown of my team started firing at me for no reason whatsoever. Another idiot joined in and they caught my NW prepared ship, parking next to them by surprise and killed it. Then I had decided that this shit was heavily borked, re-equipped myself and returned, killing the clowns who previously attacked me. Meanwhile some stupid war was being fought on 100 which I did not follow. After a battle broke out and eventually carried over to Sedina D14, Mistena said the NW was called off. We then had a really heavy and fun station battle for about an hour where like 10 people participated and 100s of kills were scored. Everyone was having fun.

That's what happened. Your thread basically is "I was not there but I claim I knew what was going on because I heard it of my friends".

I think perhaps a request for information from somebody who was there would have been a good first step, and then (if applicable) a followup suggestion for how to avoid disruption might be better received.

I removed some posts that were prohibited. No need to respond to them.

Perhaps you misunderstand the reason I posted this Sieger: I don't try to be subtle when throwing dirt at VOID.

And forgive me if it was just greenie being hostile, got bad info.

This was simply a post to help make NW continue.

While I don't agree with what Wally did, nor do I like that he was successful, I actually gained a little respect for him that he backed his words with blasters.

A few weeks ago when he said Misty would never host again, I didn't see anyway he could do it. Now that he was successful, I'm not going to bitch or call foul. Quite the opposite really: well played.

What I will do is work to take away that power in the future by updating the rules. Rules that I thought needed some change anyway.

Nith,

I made that same kind of suggestion/idea privately in ONE voice chat, and Big made an important point, Greenwall is running TGFT's spotter network plugin, so he will probably know were all the starter sectors are, and do the same thing he did on Sunday.

Good point.

But if everyone was turboing in an empty sector while waiting, it would be much less "fish in a barrel" as it is now.

Also tgft plugins wouldn't be necessary, anyone in group would know your location.

Still as an added bonus, my way you don't know what you're facing and planning would be more on the fly.

Even if I feel that she is unqualified, I'm not so vindictive that I will cause such chaos for every nationwar Mistena decides to host. As I said yesterday, I don't plan on doing that again, and I feel like I made my point.

However I can't speak for anyone else; Nith's concern about the general capability of anyone to engage in such disruptions is nothing new -- it has always existed. This is why it's paramount that a host of public event makes serious efforts to remain fair in their role. Mistena made no such effort.

Actually Wally, it's why it's important for everyone participating to follow the rules and why those rules should account for assholes like you and I. What do you think groups like SKV or ONE or FAMY are going to do next time one of your guildmembers tries to host NW?
Sep 12, 2016 greenwall link
I agree that it's important to follow the rules, which is why I followed those that were in place. Mistena made an ex post facto rule because she is dear friends with Big Nasty and she hated me. I don't respect that kind of hosting. I wouldn't respect it a friend of mine in game did the same thing.

Pancakes: Greenwall acted independently of his guild to carry out his personal vendetta against me; although his reaction to the previous nationwar I hosted affected more than just me.

Sieger: Greenwall could've carried out his Vendetta against me and me alone, instead of affecting everyone that was trying to participate in this week's nationwar. The clowns who attacked you believed that it was a group effort when it was Greenwall alone who carried out the sabotage. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Despite having buckets of fun after the main event transpired, that isn't what this post is about.

Greeenwall: I bet you can assume that were no longer pals. I tried to make it work despite the differences we felt based on our Guilds' allegiances (This was prior to the nationwar where I withheld the money). I withheld the money because what BigN said seemed reasonable. Without me being in the sector, I could not have possibly known what events transpired after my death aside from what I was told. The whole of the Serco team requested that I not pay you, BigN was just the victim of the "fight" that transpired after. Please know that your personal vendetta against me turned into something much larger as the decision you made to make the whole thing "Fair" didn't alone affect me but other individuals and even guilds who wanted to participate.

To others: I don't plan on hosting any more nationwars in the near future, despite requests. If I change my mind, I will make a post. Still planing on doing something fun during free week though ;)

Mistena:

You did not "try and make it work" (assuming by "it" you meant our once friendlier relationship). And also I had no expectation that you should try to "make it work", given the people/guilds you chose to associate with. We have RP differences, and that's fine. But RP differences have always been set aside when it comes to NW. That is the expectation, and that is not what happened, as much as you try to paint your behavior as "reasonable".

Greenwall could've carried out his Vendetta against me and me alone, instead of affecting everyone that was trying to participate in this week's nationwar.

As you should know very well by know after years of tutelage from your master and sensei Bojan, and your recently confirmed serco friends and FAMY allies, Vendetta's are enacted all sorts of ways in game and not exclusively thorugh 1v1 fights. Sometimes others get caught up in the cross hairs.

Haha lol,
I was at this Nw, and it was hilarious, All we where talking about was "Runnerwall, the butthurt clown" in the group chat
Greenwall started killing people, and ran away when chased by me and Monday Fundie (i didnt do a good job chasing in a WTD) but still, funny!

SKV sucks at hosting/organizing events because they are not interested in building the community only boosting the ego of SKV/ONE/FAMY alliance, so much so this thread had to be posted by one of there many bootlickers who did not attend.

If VOID ever decides to host another player event there would be no issues because those who get out of line would be publicly executed and another name would be added to our kill list. Simple.

Oh and xperia, consider yourself marked for death. Your lack of respect for greenwall will be met with lethal force which has no escape.

Those who get in the way of VOID will be destroyed, we will kill their wives, children, even the family mutt, not before crucifying whoever is stupid enough to stand against us in such a fashion that christ himself would be impressed.

SKV didn't host the event....

But we can't expect you too know that as you didn't attend either.

Just like we can't explain to you in a way you can comprehend that you are a hypocritical, egomaniac that attempts to push off other's work and claim creative communal superiority.

Or how easy it is to see right through you.

PS. Your anime ain't improving the community
