Ahoy!
So I've become pathetically bored of playing plants vs zombies on my smart phone lately and have been looking for a new game. Unfortunately every game I've tried, and I've tried a lot, sucks ass. To the point that I've come to the conclusion that there are only shit games made for android.
And with that I finally figure what the hell, I pop in and see how good old VO is doing. Create me a free account and flew around Grey from Dau to Verasi. Met one fellow that tried to 'gangam style' me. Whatever that is. Got to give them credit though, they got my cent 1 down to 22% with me playing for the first time on my smart phone. In all seriousness, they were themselves either very new or just horsing around with an apparent 0/0/0/0/0 player.
Anyway, I was impressed with this experience on my phone having tried it once years ago and hated it. The introduction was much better, though I really think the offline section should be expanded to include botting, trade and mining at the very least. Hell, I'd drop $10-20 right now for a decent offline option of VO
Another thing that pleased me, and maybe this was simply due to very limited time period I was online and does not represent the norm, was that the atmosphere was much more positive and lively in chat. None of that bullshit drama. Just folk talking a little shit and having fun. It reminded me of when I used to love logging into VO.
I'm not sure if I'll be back or not, like any but a few might remember me or care. VO is a game I used to love to play and could love again, but I haven't seen anything in the updates I've browsed to indicate that development has moved 'my' direction.
Just posting to say that the game looks great, the atmosphere is 100% better from what I can tell and I hope someday, maybe soon, maybe not to be flying with you all again.

Yes the atmosphere in VO has really gotten a lot better recently. It is mostly because Bojan is not playing anymore aswell as a few other guys who really caused toxicity.
Let me update you on guilds: Your guild TGFT is still pretty active. They mostly operate in UIT/Latos and seem to still build tons of Tridents in a ninja manner. It'd be cool to sometimes see them roam around, but they're good at dodging encounters.
The most active combat/piracy guild is VOID to this day. Blaqk had left the game for half a year and Sieger took over command and recruited a ton of people. Now Blaqk is back again. Don't make the mistake in stumbling into WHs at certain times of the day in Odia/Sedina/Latos, you can run into like 5 or 6 VOID there sometimes. Of course VOID isn't the only guild. There's still EDIT and #DIE too but they seem to avoid VOID since apparently these guys are all at war or something. It seems they don't encounter each other an awful lot anyhow. While EDIT operates in Edras/UIT most of the time, VOID remains true to what they always claim and fly in grey.
Nationalism is mostly dead. SKV is nowehere to be seen (except for SKV-IRC in Odia M-14...). ONE still plays at times and do their stuff but I don't know if they do Deneb/CtC or just build more Tridents. It'd be cool to see some more nationalism in VO. It's frustrating that this was kind of ruined and nationalists started fighting traders in grey space instead. That it took pirates in the end to get rid of them is funny. I suppose if they stayed true to their playstyle, it wouldn't have happened.
The general atmosphere is nice. I don't listen to 100 a lot but when I do, it is either free to play users talking hilarious non sense, people actually chatting about the game or VOID chat bantering with a random enemy. It's mostly the classic talk "stop hiding and come out!" "you suck!" "no YOU suck!!!". Pretty fun.

Thanks Trader. I'm glad to hear the better atmosphere wasn't just a timing fluke. I've been playing a bit today on my phone. It's almost like an entirely different game to me starting from scratch and not being on my pc. I may end up subscribing the new account and maybe the old Fluffy account as well. At the moment sorting out plugins on the phone. What in the world happened to the plugin page on the VO wiki??? It's an Easter egg hunt without it!!

Not true! Both Chess and Go are available on Android, and there's a free Magic the Gathering app as well if you're into that. I also suggest trying Agar.io.
