Moral ramifications of separate VO economy based on player slavery

Bojan - It's nice that you're trying to have a civilized discussion for once (somehow). But you're making it too dramatic dude. WHERE is the pay-to-win here? How does in-game cash help you win VO? Most veterans have a ton of cash. And even when you got the biggest bank account, you'll still have to have combat skill to "win" by VO standards. Cause after all, it is mainly a combat game and that's where it's going down too. If somebody decides to trade subscription keys for VO content, then that's beneficial to the game. In my view, the positive side largely outweighs any possible downsides here.

It would be another thing if Blaqk was telling people to give him VO content for his RL cash or some shit. But in this scenario, Blaqk is trading VO items (sub-keys) for VO items (credits). I view both of those as legitimate trade goods, as it is GS at benefit.

So I kind of disagree with the uproar.

myacumen - If you're disappointed with the game, don't play and gtfo. Just stop whining so much.
Mar 18, 2017 myacumen link
Of course you would disagree ziggy. What would you do without your little minion around?

I'm sure you would love if I left because then there would not be anyone else around to let the player base know you are a person with such low self esteem that you had to cheat at a video game to feel like a big man. By the way how is your paying guild mates for pks going?

@Sieger

Gift key is by definition a gift, it's not a VO in-game trade item.
It's intended to gift someone a subscription for free or to be used on your own account.

Selling "gift keys" for in-game widgets (dent parts, hive drops, etc.) or in-game credits is effectively paying RL cash for in-game stuff.

What's next - buying good accounts (alpha/beta badges) with tough fighter characters for $$$ RL cash?

Bojan - If you feel a rule-change/rule enforcement is due, then send a support ticket. Why are we talking here then? It was made clear more than once by incarnate that public drama talks about things you feel are not legal by VO rules is not wanted or tolerated.

Just write a ticket, man.

myacumen - NO! Don't leave!
Cry some more instead, little man. Right now, your self esteem seems to be a little low and offended by actions of other people in video games. :-D

You still don't understand it Sieger.

How would a support ticket do anything if this is happening with Incarnates blessing and GS is doing everything it can to sweep it under the rug (Phaserlight)?

As I said before, this thread is a "wake up call".

Okay so... If the head developer of this game, in other words the creator and boss decided that a certain behaviour is accepted and tolerated then... you can't do anything about it.

I doubt a "wake up call" will achieve you anything more than a forum mute for repeatedly ignoring that incarnate doesn't want any "wake up calls" in here in which players are named and "shamed". And let's be honest, this is what it is...

If you don't like it, I can give you the same advice as myacumen, but a bit more friendly: If you don't like it, don't play VO. If you are like most long term players (and I know you are, since you're still here), you'll still take VO the way it is cause it's a game you enjoy very much. You always have the chance to decide if your "personal line" was crossed and you can no longer play. Decide it, but don't make a fuss everytime you disagree with something. It's a game after all.

Wrong again, it's favoritism and it goes against everything GS wrote in their EULA and what Incarnate stood for for over a decade when he talked about his game.

At least he could have enough decency to admit that not all players are equal in VO and if you pay more you can become a favorite and be pampered and allowed to do anything you want and not adhere to any rules that might exist in this game for everyone else.
Mar 18, 2017 Sieger link
Ah c'mon dude. Now you're shooting out a conspiracy theory about secret favoritism going on behind the scenes. You know that's bullshit.

You wanted some drama. A wake up call in good behaviour and without trying to "shame" people could have also happened in a support ticket. Your argument about incarnate saying "Go away." to those tickets is invalid. What stops him from doing it in public in this very thread? A ticket would have had the same chances on success. And yet you chose to write a thread...

You still don't get it Sieger, sigh.
Mar 18, 2017 Sieger link
Nah, I think you're just a stubborn old fellow. Good luck with your glorious and honorable endeavor here.
Mar 18, 2017 Gavin Mcinnes link
It's pretty obvious why SBC has written this thread.

The general uproar and drama would force Incarnate to actually respond publicly, either supporting Blaqk's actions or taking action against it. I think the community is against paying for anything that effects gameplay, not just stuff that can make a bad pilot good. This kind of thing really should merit a public statement from Incarnate or at the very least administrative action.

So, lets put this in perspective folks.

From what i gather, blaqk bought a fuckload of sub keys and is selling them to new players so that every month they pay a monthly due for their sub (instead of a measly 10$..), and if the account doesnt pay then he deactivates the sub.

(EDIT: nevermind, he just trades sub gift keys for credits in game. He didnt buy then all before. I was wrong in this paragraph, but the rest of the post still is on point)

So, look at it like this. This happens incredibly in other games, and its because theres a small market of people who dont want to paybreal money but have the time effort and energy to farm 100m quick. This is a /small/ market. Small. I know most people will instead pay 10$ cuz its nothinf rather than spend time workinf for their 'rented sub'.

This is like EVE's isk thing, where you can work to pay for ur subscription. This is an avid and valid market thing going on here. Is it smart? I honestly dont at all think so, because 10$ for an game where subs dont change /to much/, so if anything its kind of a lame investment. Technically not only did blakq invent the market but as such capitolized and monopolized on it as well.

If someone has the time to do this then its not a bad thing, they want to, not are enforced to, enslaved to, they want to. They could litteraly farm up the 100m, trade it to a diff account, and tell blakq to fuck off (idk if u thought this part thru blakq). But because it is an outside monetized source, they arent enslaved at all. It takes like a week to gain the license levels you would make on a diff account. I know this personally because ive done it, and the game is set up to not be such a grindfest anyways.

Nobody is entitled to staying with blakqs method of subs. Therefore its not exploitation at all.

This whole thing is a weird quirk that has a legit market. The only exploitation i can see is blakq using the accounts somehow to track players, but then again that requires effort and if found happenong could result in quite the ban.

(And the way this is implemented,. This cant even happen. They keys are set like that, so he has no control over whathappens after the trade)

You all need to take a step back and see the perspective here. Is it pay to win? No not at all, and if anything someone else can do this at a lower price and then that how evermuch money blakq threw to GS is caput. Its not exploitation (for now).

I do not pay peoples accounts subscription, I purchase a gift key which I then trade for credits and or capital ship parts. I don't go first in any transaction on Vendetta Online except with Guild Software.

I do not pre-purchase the key, as players purchase them I buy them. Once the credits hit my wallet I whip out my debit card and send a key via /msg

I need to preserve this statement for the sake of humanity so I made a screenshot.
It really needs to be posted again and again.

Mar 18, 2017 ohshtwaddup link
Well i misunderstood what was going on a bit.

Whats the fucking major pissfury over this, its just trading creds for subs, anyone can do this not just blakq.
Mar 18, 2017 csgno1 link
@ohshtwaddup

I think you have it right enough, this is much ado about nothing. If Inc doesn't like it, we'll know soon enough.

No shit Sherlock, but where does this end?

How about 2 of us make a deal: I will buy a year sub gift key for you if you allow me to kill your in-game character 10.000 times?
Do we have a deal? It's alright, not much effort needed from you, just to undock in a bus 10.000 times, we can do it in a day.

No real harm to anyone, see Blaqk is selling sub gift keys for hard work on getting millions of credits and building trident parts and giving them to him, I just need you to undock with a bus 10.000 times. far better deal.
Oh yeah and I want to do it on a new character so I get to have 10.000 pks and no deaths.

Also, yoda (if you are reading this) - I am willing to buy your beta account for 2 years sub gift keys. There are so few beta only accounts and I need one for giggles.
It's ok, everyone is doing it, no worries mate. Incarnate is perfectly fine with this. After all, all cash for subs gift keys goes to GS.

I ask again - where does this end?

I'm sure ziggy was already thinking about that plan

Anyone can make some strange unrelated hypothetical and pretend they are right.
Mar 18, 2017 myacumen link
It's not unrelated it is the path that will follow if this action is allowed to continue
