Judging Interest: UIT Defense Militia

I'd like to get a good idea of how many people would be interested in starting up a "militia" for the defense of the UIT. The concept would follow that of a militia fairly closely... normal "citizens" (basically, anybody from the UIT, whether they're orientated towards trading, combat, repairing [with the new patch on Friday], etc.) would go about their normal (in game) lives. Their only requirement would be that, once a pirate or invader was declared in the system (either through the guild channel, channel 100, or some other means), they would drop whatever they happened to be doing at the time (or complete it, time permitting), and rush to the defense of the UIT.

In short: If the UIT is at threat, either by invader or pirate, the militia would spring up and defend against that threat. If there's no threat, then life goes on as normal.

No fancy requirements, complicated guild structure, or other complications... just a group to help out the UIT when the nation needs it.

Anybody else interested in such a guild?

I'm Serco, but I don't want to bash this. Just hear me out.

How do you provide all-time coverage of the entire UIT space?
So far, if you even want to jump only 1 system, a trader could be reduced to ashes, barring heavy escort work.

Just a thought...

Methinks I didn't explain myself well enough. I don't plan on providing fulltime coverage of the entire UIT space... that would require at the least a player stationed at each wormhole 24/7, or possibly some sort of sensor system that hasn't been implemented yet.

What I'm really trying to do is make life a lot less easy for pirates/invaders. Take the wormhole camping that's been taking place at Azek J1, for example. Ideally, once a trader has jumped into that sector, and taken out, he either gives an alert via channel 100, via the guild channel (if he's part of the militia), or some other predetermined channel meant solely for this purpose. The rest of the militia would have been going out their normal activities, but monitoring those methods of communication.

Once the alert has been given, each individual within the militia either stops what they're doing, or finishes it. They then pick up a combat ship, and rush to take care of the threat (which may or may not have stuck around).

It's not a cure-all (that first trader has to get nailed), but it's a lot better than the current situation... wormhole gets camped, a trader gets irritated enough to post up on channel 100, and resistance at that point is whoever happens to feel like going pirate hunting... which is usually pretty thin. It could be improved by predetermined members declaring a gathering point before proceeding on to the pirates/invaders, which allows everyone to swarm them. Things might get interesting if there's multiple threats in different systems, so we'd need more organization than that, but it can be sorted out as we get things up and running.

Is that a better explanation?

easiest solution would be to with a couple dedicated good "vets" hang out on the so called pirate and ambushplaces. Azek j being one.

Try to outgun them at every pace and they will flee before your might :D

Anyway, this would be far easier to do then to cover the entire UIT zone. And the places you could patrol could be dependent on the intensity of piratereports in the last 2 days...

is this about pirates? in that case, a pure UIT force will be ineffective. you better join vipers and help us to be the reason for pirates to become extinct.

Oh, wow, you guys are still around? :P

Right now, it's about pirates. In the future, it'll probably still be about pirates. Unless the Serco or Itani take it in their minds to take out the UIT (doubtful), it'll probably always be about the pirates. I'll look into the vipers, though.
