The Tale of The Ethereal One

Feb 09, 2005 Archon link
Greetings, folks. This is the story of my old character Archon (latin for "ghost") finally completed. The character and story dates back to the early Beta of Vendetta, that is, the times I played. I hope you will enjoy the read.

Many a tale have been told of The Ethereal One since it mystically appeared over a thousand years ago. Now, with the aid of the latest technology available, it can be stated only a sad few of these are anywhere near the truth. Allthough the Sercon Historical Research Organization are fully aware that many will choose to go with a traditional belief rather than the new, scientifically proven chain of events that made The Ethereal One, we, in agreement with the Sercon Department of Cultural Preservation, have decided to make the following the “official” belief of The Serco Nation.

Thousand centuries ago, in the very dawn of our Nation, a proud Serconian by the name of Arcomund Cerundir, first Father of the Cerundir kin, was born on the desolate outpost of Arhmarahorn. At the age of four star circuits, his old man, the Forefather of the Cerundir kin and the proud leader of the Blood Faction, commenced his traning as a Haiw* of the Blood Faction. With awe Arco watched his son rapidly achieve stunning skills in flight, evasion, concealment and rocketeering. At the age of only 8 star circuits, this youngest of Haiws applied and was accepted in the Blood Faction branch of the Serco Navy.

He needed not wait long for his wish for action to be granted. Only months after his enrollment, he was asked to lead a squadron of Haiw recruits into Itani space for a regular harrassment mission aimed at Itani utpost Trehlta. In his beloved Blackbird, a highly altered Scar interceptor he had received from Arco as compliment for joining The Navy, the fearsome child set for the border, closely followed by the four recruits watching his every move in awe. After two days of intense flight, the strike force found themselves lurking in close proximity of Trehlta Prime to avoid detection. Then, against all odds and expectations, suddenly an Itani patrol appears above the first moon of Trehlta Prime. For a moment the pack halts, chances are awaiting orders from the puzzled captain of their lead frigate, then all hell breaks loose. Within seconds the Haiws find themselves in a reign of grenades, rockets and whatnot, of which evasion quickly becomes an impossible task. One after one their ships are shredded to pieces in the intense fire from the swarming fighters and the capital ships majestetically floating at a distance. With no pilots left to lead, the dispaired child Arcomund boosts towards the lead frigate, letting the rocket bays of his beloved vessel unload into its bridge, followed by what seems like hundreds of fighters, furiously blazing their guns. This is when the unbeliavable happens – suddenly, a black wormhole materializes in front of Arcomund. With no chances of escaping it whatsoever, the child quietly starts singing The Anthem, letting his last thoughts go with the fighters who gave their life under his command.

Or so he thought.

Seconds later, the wormhole emits a bright flash of light, blinding the Itani fighters and causing many to crash into their nearby comrades. In this chaos, a dark ship encloaked in flames can be seen, furiously speeding out and in of the packs of Itani fighters, turning the chaos into an uncontrolled havoc of paniced pilots trying to escape their new-born foe. Arrisen has Archon, The Ethereal One.

* Haiw: A member of the Blood Faction throughoutly trained in the arts of guerilla warfare. These were somewhat considered the special forces of the Blood Faction.
