IA-VPR alliance

How are you neutral? You attack legitimate, peaceful traders. Just because you'll attack traders from all nations evenly, does not make you neutral - it just makes you an enemy of all nations. I wouldn't be worried about Serco allying with BL, Shape, so much as I'd be worried about Serco allying with VPR against BL. You have declared yourselves to be pirates. You are therefore public enemies of all nations.
Mar 05, 2005 Shapenaji link
HAHAHA.

sorry couldn't help myself.

You think the serco will turn down an opportunity to have more pilots back them up?

methinks you are mistaken
Mar 05, 2005 Beolach link
Perhaps I am. But despite their misguided bloodlust, Serco do maintain a level of Honor in combat. If they do ally themselves with pirates, then they forfeit all honor in my eyes.

> Remember that you are representative of your nation. For your actions, we will hold your nation accountable.

Soooo, since most of VPR is UIT, does that mean all UIT are similarly not entitled to a warning? I mean, they *are* representatives of their nation (such as it is).

There's no logic to this. BL is just scratching up thin, silly excuses to make life more dangerous for the law-abiding citizens (and, out-of-game, I applaud you; in-game, may your scurvy lungs suck plasma). If it weren't for the IA-VPR alliance, they'd just claim it was because Itani has been winning CtC. Or because IA has a "defend against pirates" clause in our constitution.

It's all horse-puckey.

Beo, are you insulting our honor in combat?
Mar 05, 2005 Martin.mac.au link
I think the big problems are

IA have declared open war on Black Lance. Ergo IA now are KOS with Black Lance as is anybody who helps them while we're fighting them.

IA have taken up a very strong presence in Sedina B8 which is a choke point between Serco space and the key points in grey space. Because of this Sercos come through, see some people fighting the IA and naturally side with the anti-IA people, even if they're pirates. That or Black Lance come through, see Sercos fighting IA and go after the IA because they are KOS and as such are more critical targets (enemies instead of clients)

> Beo, are you insulting our honor in combat?

In as much as you are pirates, preying on (relatively) defenceless traders, yes.
Mar 05, 2005 Renegade ++RIP++ link
martin,

that is flawed, people will not choose for the IA if the pirates have been a thorn in their eyes. They will go after the pirates. just ask icarus. How many people didn't went after him(and died) once starfreeze and a couple of the other vets started hunting him for pirating itani newbies. And Generally you even saw Serco vets hopping on either a itani or a UIT char to go after him, and UIT-people joined.

That is part of being a pirate... That is exactly why you guys became a pirate. And an alliance between 2 guilds should never have an influence on the entire nation, since you would be holding an entire nation for the actions of individuals. It is exactly the same as stating that all itanis are rammers because some people flew a triflarevalk in the old days. And actually using this as an excuse to hunt just itani is only because you guys are afraid that you will not stand a chance on your own. While that is actually what a pirate does... Naturally if serco consider the pirates to be an asset in their war, then they will team up with them. It will only strengthen the resolve of the IA-viper alliance and possibly even intermix the totallity of the vpr-alliance into ctc since that is what the serco will ask for their participation in the Serco-Bl alliance. Or at least that is what a smart negotiator would do. Since if BL will not get the alliance they will be evaporised from the known universe in some dark corner. Maybe the devs are willing to give them some special sector if they get beaten with an accessoption only for these known pirates... Which could then actually be seen as part of the dynamical rpg that the players are forming(and which could be used as a great feature in future advertising). First pirates were prevalent everywhere, but once the IA signed an alliance with the vpr the anbd the pirates failed in establishing a treaty with the serco, the pirates got completely obliterated and had to retreat into unknown space, making it impossible for them to dock anywhere in grey space but have accesspoints to pracxtically all grey sectors from this one hidden sector only open to pirates.

and who knows what can happen from that moment on.

cheers

I guess the Sercos view us as less of a threat or a target than the Itanis are.
Mar 05, 2005 Renegade ++RIP++ link
which is normal since there are less serco then itani online in the majority of the cases.

I know who I am and i allso know who you are, and you sir, were way to close to our senate. Who knows what you where planning to do, so I reacted on a shoot first ask questions later basis. We tend to keep our capitals crime free, we can't have possible buisness partners to the UIT to be scared away because of a rodent infestation.

To levelset, I am a new member representing the Guild "Vipers"... and I am most privileged to serve under the honorable Commander, brave Lieutenants, and the vast wisdom of the Council. I wear the Viper badge proudly, and I will no doubtedly die several times under it's representation for the benefit of *all* nations.

Much consternation is being voiced over trivial matters... If one would only return to the history of the ancients, clarity will be revealed.

The Guild is a bond of all nations/factions. There is no preference based on genetics. We are beings of simple focus... to remove the threat of piracy, and support all nations and factions in becoming profitable and productive members of the universe. As such, diversity offers its own challenges... and also it's own rewards. The Guild is a clan of individuals... each with their own history, but with a common bond... and dedication to a common goal.

It is said, "there is an honor among thieves"... and I am a personal witness to that fact. I have seen pirates dedicate time to help weaker beings at their most vulnerable... I have been victim to attempts to violate my free passage, and then let go because I had bad humor to share... This honor is simply misplaced, and there is a *greater* honor among the meek, among the honest, and of the willing...

There is no profit in piracy. This is clearly illustrated by the fact that after a "rough time", pirates tend to resort to honest trading and mining - only to return to their vile ways once replenished. Herein lies the difference... The Guild "Vipers" are bound by a code of ethics. Many times have I personally witnessed the Lieutenants happen upon a pirate during patrol - a most vulerable period - trading honestly. There, represented, was great restraint by the "ell-tees" to allow the "known" pirate safe passage without attack. The reason being: "if we attack now, we are no better than them". And safe passage was granted. BTW, "Botting" != "Trading".

The alliance between the Guild "IA" and the Guild "Vipers" was established for mutual gain... albeit, a tentative alliance. I have personally been offered doubted benefit for transgressions unintended (e.g. improper targeting during a B-8 skirmish with the allied against the Guild "BL"). For that, I am thankful. Alternatively, diversity amongst the Guild "IA" membership has represented difficulty to the Guild "Vipers" - once again, forgiven.

Returning to the history of the ancients: when my personal lineage first mod-rep'd their SCs (sustenance cultivators) to Vore Raptors in an attempt establish clear and honest trade routes between the fore nations - and were quickly dispatched by unscrupulous pirates - our people swore to establish and uphold the safety of the trade lanes for the betterment of all. That focus stands today.

There will always be those that prey on the weak... and to my last breath, I will defend their right to particiapte in the Nations of Free Trade. I am but a simple, unskilled participant... but I am learning... and I *will* be a force to reckoned with. As such, I will dedicate myself to, and defend my fellow Guild "Vipers"... The Commander, the LTs, the Council, and the members all inclusive.

I now resign the floor to further discussion...

We have already been offered bribes justme1, and access to BL's bank (What did ______ say it was? 30+ mil?) far exceeds your 2 million. I trust that no IA or Viper will settle for that money, I assume Vipers would just expel them while IA members would get a more formal "suspension"

Our alliance exists whether or not we display it on our forums or MOTDs.

Was it Beolach who said something along the lines of "Let Serco join BL so we can all see what they think of pirates"? Well spoken. I hope the more honorable Serco will stay out of this alliance.

Shape, you lead some of the most talented players in Vendetta. It is your choice to ally with the Serco or not, we are not driving you to it. I'm sure a simple announcement on 100 would drive all the Serco your alliance would towards B8.

Itani being affected by this alliance should ask yourselves what pirates would do to you otherwise. Rob you of your dignity as they eat away your hull with a demand for money? Is that really better than losing your ship to a member of a cornered and desperate guild? A member left the IA for TGFT a while back, saying they liked the protection they had in TGFT. This person said that they were ambushed by a pirate, and within 15 minutes TGFT had hunted the pirate down. Both IA and VPR would be willing to do the same. Even if we are in different guilds, or you are in no guild at all, the IA does its best to protect the itani nation. I'm sure even our least experienced members would be willing to join in a fight for abused kin.

We try to represent the Itani nation, and if you are not against Black Lance you have no reason to have standing with us. That is harsh, but they are attacking our nation, and we are fighting back. Every war has casualties, and we do our best to prevent that. But a request to go back to the way it was before, when members of the Itani Nation had their pride stripped away instead of their life, will not be acceptable.

And it is too late. Black Lance might claim to pirate "neutrually" (whatever that is) again if the alliance was broken, but do you really think they'll forget how easily we joined forces with their enemies to stop them? They will still hold a special place in their lack-of-hearts for IA, and when they kill a non-IA itani player without warning they will likely spit out some garbage such as "Oh, I'm sorry, I have a bad memory." We must stand together with our allies and halt this force to the best of our ability, not be intimidated by their threats and continuing attacks upon peaceful players.

Do whatever you feel you need to Shape, giving it whatever justification you like. We will not be intimidated, we will not break our alliance no matter what you do. We might lose some battles, but that doesn't mean the war is over.

me stops hailing victims, thankyou ArAsH for giving me the reason, IE, I started hailing people, as it shows morals, well if the VPR/IA dont need them, nether do I.

Smittens can you explain your first paragraph to me. I'm a bit slow. BL's bank actually has a whopping 930748 credits in it and no, you can't have access to it.

Pirates don't hold grudges, they cost money

Yodaofborg, It seems you forget on what side you are on.

YOU are the agressor.

We do not ASK to defend ourselves from an agressor. Once this is established a long time ago and you are known and identified as a pirate there are no futher hails needed of course. You would use our hails to gain time either to evade your fate or to continue doing harm while you are doing what you are doing.

Martin, when I was bribed the briber said I could have access to your bank (maybe not in those exact words, but close enough) which either way far exceeds a minor 2 mil.
