My friends and I do stuff similar to that at school during lunch breaks, but we don't actually go and pretend to shoot up the place.

The term I've heard associated with the little scenario in the beginning with everyone pointing a "gun" at everyone else but not firing is "Mexican standoff." The term does involve large groups of at least 7-8 people.

The term seems a little off-color to me, but perhaps someone more familiar with the Wild West genre of movies/films would be more likely to know a more socially acceptable term for the concept. (Or the "real" term, if there is one.)

I particularly like the bit with the guy and his cell phone. That was a riot. ^_^;

PC ("Politically Correct") folks in the US probably had a panic attack when they screened that ad.

I like it. Still won't buy a XBox360, tho.

There WAS an xbox ad back in 2002 that was banned by those politically correct folks in the UK http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,1367,53016,00.html?tw=wn_story_related (and also sort of in France, but that was about a lawsuit involving sort of artistic plagarism http://news.com.com/2100-1040-938757.html ). It involved a fetus erupting out of it's mother, bursting through a window and aging rapidly as it rocketed through the air and fell into a grave as an old man. The folks in the UK found it "shocking".

You decide: http://www.boardsmag.com/screeningroom/commercials/235/

A search of tech media sites finds no news of a 2005 banned ad, but does reveal that the XboX 360 ad, widely and inaccurately reported to be a banned ad, is actually a viral ad that fished in the hype-driven gaming media.

We were impressed with the ad the first time we saw it. We’re even more impressed now by the play it’s managed to find thanks to a very simple decision to delay its broadcast.
Yup, “delay.” The spot will be played for television audiences before it’s all over.

Oooh, clever buggers.

Awesome ad nonetheless.

maybe the politicians are just 'stopping trolling' on the message board of life. i mean, nobody here supports trolling do they?

This sounds a lot like a much more sophisticated approach to advertising than the
Sony "campaign" of pre-designed "grafiti" for it's PSP. Of course Sony is now run by
a bunch of second and third generation idiots who are so removed from reality that
they are no longer capable of innovation, let alone conveying a message to what
remains of thier customer base...
