Woots, new joystick.
Finally got myself a decent joystick to fly around VO again. 'tis a spiffy Saitek X52 with the two-year replacement plan from Best Buy. Should be seeing me in VO more often as Khalitz or Thesaadri, though Thes will be deleted soon.
hehe... as an X52 owner, I'd like to know what you end up with on strafing... me, it was the mini-stick... 'cause all of the tophats are "flaky"... but, NOTHING drives a moth betterin' a X52!
I'll let you know as soon as I get back home and comfortable with it. Keeping the ministick in mind though just because there's so many hat switches that I'll forget which one has my strafe on it.
Roger that... :)~
ugh, the flaky hats got me too... responsible for more of my deaths than any other single thing... until I decided to stop using the stick for strafing entirely... I now use the keyboard for strafe, and the throttle only when flying a moth with FA.
And leap, how did you get the ministick working for strafe? I still haven't figured that out...
EDIT: PS. OMG, it's SCUBA STEVE! what rock did you just crawl out from under?

I sent you the profile... it's a matter of programming the mini-stick to basically send keystrokes through a totally configurable set of archs (or boundaries, if you prefer)...
Heck, just load the profile I sent in the profile editor... you'll see... (and yeah, the hats really suck bigtime for anything linear - I use hats on my *real* airplane for trim and such, and they actually work... the X52's on the other hand, do not... but they are useful for discrete commands)

What particular plane might that be, Seta?
Mooney M20C... :)~
Her nick is punkin' (because she was painted an interesting shade of orange - from the factory - when I bought her. She's since been totally madeover...)

Eh, so far I've tried the hat switch under the right thumb and then the other on the throttle. I'm rather fond of my hats. However! I seem to be exploding a lot more than I used to, which may be the hat, may be how long it's been since I've played much, or it could be my dislike of the "looseness" of the x and y axes.
They slide around all over the place while the z is rather resistant to twisting, makes for an odd sensation while piloting.
And, Cunjo, it's the one right behind the Interstellar Rock Factory in Itan.

Yea, I still have to get that loaded... been hard enough trying to find the time to play -without- taking the time to mess with my settings =)

You callin' me a rock, Cunjo? *eyes menacingly*

Those factories are secret! Shhhh!
