Who comes up with these flavors anyways?

I was in the store and I impulse bought lime-dill pickles. Yucky. Who comes up with these odd flavor combinations?

Pretty much those who understand compulsive buyers.

You fell in their trap. Should 9999 others do as you, they'd have made their profit and will come up with chocolate-frosted sugar dills for the next batch of compulsive buyers.

The same people that made New Coke and the cherry flavoring in cough syrup.
Taste engineers can make basically any flavor they want, but have come to realize that over thousands of years of human history, we already pretty much know what we like. Hence in desperation, they make "lime-dill-pickles". Otherwise they're out of a job.

Hm. I thought New Coke was developed because people complained about Coke, it not being as smooth as Pepsi. So Coca-Cola went and made a 'nerfed' version, put it on the shelves, lost public trust and lots of shares, reintroduced the old flavor and everything went back to normal...

I tell you, people can be odd at times.

And yet, the guy behind New Coke is now richer than ever. Ha!

they might be appealing to the pregnant woman market

now dont shake your head like that.

think about it like this.

there are 6 billion people on this planet. every single last one of them came from a pregnant woman.

now according to the us census bureau, international programs center, http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/popclockworld.html, 74 million people were born last year.

that means that at least 74 million women, give or take a few because of twins, miscarriage, etc, were pregnant last year.

and each one for many months!

imagine if each one of them bought a lime-dill pickle at 10 cents profit. thats 7.4 million dollars!

in fact i would suggest that VO starts shipping lime pickles with boxes of VO, and puts them in infant stores like 'babies r us' or 'baby gap'.

Hmmmm... Don't feel too bad Sarahanne. I LOVE good dill pickles, and I LOVE limes. Nothing goes better with Tequila than limes. Just ask LeberMac. If I had seen those pickles at the market, I would have tried them too. Maybe they will
show up here in L.A. soon. In the meantime, I eat lots of Lay's "Limon" potato chips.
Last time I checked, I was the only one buying them.... That means they will go away
soon. Bummer.

Actually, Coca Cola brought new coke, then brought out coke classic, just before the 100yr rule for patents would have been up, repatented it as coke classic, and added another 100yrs before someone else can get the recipe for it.

You certainly can't blame them for doing it, can you?
