The flames and "so far OT it has nothing to do even remotely with Vendetta" threads.
I think they should be deleted. There are no less than FIVE community boards that are either dedicated to or promote "after hours" discussion for players of vendetta.
Starfreeze and Roguelazer each have full service boards catering to Vendetta players in matters that do or even don't relate to the game. These are specifically created for Vendetta players.
Endy the Slicer has a vendetta forum on his message board, as does Mordok. Even the AirAttack boards do too.
I think the devs need to make a stand that all the obvious off topic traffic should be directed to -any- of these boards. They should provide links and maybe even a brief description.
This board needs to dedicate itself more to the furthering of game development than idle chatter. The signal to noise ratio is getting so atrocious I can hardly find and useful information about the game amidst all the useless blather, even in the supposedly ON-topic/game related forums here.
I'm speaking in terms of community/gameplay as well, not merely the technological aspects of the game. I come to THIS board to see how the GAME is developing, in terms of both development and application.
I don't want to see Icarus and Arolte dropping trou and whipping out the tape measure in almost every single thread. I couldn't give a whit about a cookie. If I want spam I can sign up on lendingtree.com. I don't need to be subjected to it here as well.
Start deleting EVERY SINGLE OFF TOPIC POST THAT IS NOT IN THE OFF TOPIC FORUM. All you need to do is edit the post and add this line: "Post deleted for being off topic. To chat with other Vendetta players about topics that are not related to gameplay, please click on the Links button to see a list of the off-site Vendetta oriented community forums".
Devs, you'll do EVERYONE a favor. The communities those other forums are trying to grow will thrive, providing you with oodles of good word of mouth puiblicity - not to mention keeping current playtesters happy. Off-topic chatters will be able to prattle on endlessly, as they do already, but people like me who just want to know what's going on will actually be able to find out without going through the needle in a haystack routine.
Start deleting the whiners and the flamers, as well. I don't know about the last three boards, but both Roguelazer and Starfreeze have explictly marked Flames forums, so the majority of us who don't want to be subjected to the incessant bitching WON'T HAVE TO.
