Two days ago the monitor started to fall of the hinge, it learned that i got used to the random flickering of colors so now it has decided to random beeping.

BEEP
BEEP

STOP THE BEEPING!!!

Oh yah, and it doesn't beep when i have a console window open.

I think it is plotting against me.

/me thinks SL needs to send it in to a qualified Apple repair man person.

I will on monday.

My brother thinks the Genius will just say it is my fault, so it won't fall under warranty.

Cha ching!

I'll probably need a new caseing around the monitor, maybe a new monitor, and a new hard drive.

Oh yah, before the monitor hinge broke, sometimes the computer would freeze (all the way down to the kernel), and the hard drive-ular area would start makeing this nasty sound, if i did a force reboot (apple control power) it would try to find the boot disk, then say it couldn't find it, pop the battery out and back in it works fine-ish.

Also vendetta makes my computer crash a lot.

Just a bit longer lemming and the people in black turtle necks will make it all better.

Well, at least last time i went to the apple store the uniform was black turtle neck...

BEEP

BEEP

/me whimpers.

I never said the genius would be wrong now did I?

It did start to brake awhile ago, the case near the hinge started to warp, then the latch to keep it closed stop working, then the hard drive started acting screwy, the hinge area warped a bit more, then the reboot time between hard drive crashes increased.

Right now i think clean restart is 5 minutes, minimum, a forced restart will be 10 minutes, minimum. I'll check right now.

you should have taken it to them when the case started to warp and DEFINATELY when the latched stopped working

I told my parents and they were like "Yah, thats nice"

Well, the restart tests are in!
3 minutes for a clean restart.
14 minutes for a forced restart.

GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!

Summary of everything ibook-related of my day.

Got ibook back.
Installed stuff that i backed up on ipod back to the ibook and deleted those files.
Played some bzflag, crashed 5 times in a row.
Noticed the fan was running very quickly and the ibook was very hot.
Played vendetta, crashed the computer completely (normal, see one of the threads in the mac os x forum here)
Forced the computer to reset.
Monitor had 2 horixontal lines, 1 was 2 inches thick, the other was 1 inch.
It failed to start up.
Told it to start up again, it worked.
Played bzflag after ibook cooled down.
Computer heated up within 1 minute and fan spinning madly.
Played some vendetta.
Kernel Panic!
Fails to start up...

x10

I gave up on the 10th try.

Soooooooooooooo, to the apple store i go tommorow to shoot people, rrr i mean to get it repaired. AGAIN.

Good luck!

Well, here is my odd behaviour i'm going to tell them.
"Before it got repaired, it had 1 kernel panic"
"After it got repaired, it had 4 kernel panics, in one day."

/me is not enjoying the experiences he has had with his ibook.
Aug 05, 2003 roguelazer link
Ha ha. I've NEVER had a kernel panic, and the only time my system froze that badly was when I overclocked my VRAM by 250Mhz.

SL, demand a refund. Either get a 12" PB G4 ($1400 with student discount), or an IBM Thinkpad T40 (the one with the Pentium M). IBM makes amazing laptops... Must get rid of crappy iBook... Rrrr... >:(
Aug 05, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
"Um yahh, well you see i'm fed up with the bad repair service on the ibook and the bad design of the ibook."

Maybe i should.

HELLO APPLE?!?!

If your going to repair it, make it not have 6 kernel panics!

The hinge works fine, it does squek a little......
