Any other fellow RTS/4X fans might want to check out StarDrive, a recently released 4X space strategy game that focuses primarily on combat and extreme ship customization. It's buggy and currently incomplete, but the developer releases daily test-branch updates for bug fixes, content additions, etc. Updates seem to be roughly once a week, and bugs are being squashed fast. He takes a lot of community suggestions and throws them in as well.

Some community ship designs, some of which are entered into the game as AI ships: http://www.stardrivegame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=552&start=190

Yeah I did see this, it looks all nice, great concept and stuff but then I saw it's for windows only and lost all interest.

Platforms are the most important prerequisite.

For a linux user, yes :P

That game reminds me of homeworld which i liked a lot! Is there a demo or beta for this?

Unfortunately no. :/ There are quite a few gameplay videos though, I skipped through a few LPs before I bought it to make sure it was worth it. So far it definitely has been aside from some minor bugs.

You'd probably feel the same way about Linux-only games.

$30 USD. 30€ in Europe. Not sure why the price difference (~$7USD), could be a glitch.

I have a few games that I like that are windows only, so I just run them under a vm on linux.

No big deal, although I do actually pay for shit the devs put some effort into cross platform os's.
